It flies to Heathrow and then to Helsinki
then to Oulu!

You cannot get a direct flight from Lagos to Oulu. Helsinki should be your target after which you can move on to Oulu.
To get to Helsinki from Lagos, you can go with any of the European airlines that fly from Lagos. BA, Lufthansa, KLM, Air France.
Lufthansa would cost you $1750, Air France - $1300, KLM - $1900 and British Airways which is the cheapest for this flight would cost you just $1160. With BA, you might need a transit Visa.

The distance between Oulu and Helsinki is almost 600km, so depending on your choice you might want to go by flight, train or bus.
If you book your flight long before, you can get it cheaply for as low as €39, if not be ready to spend almost 200 Euros if you have to buy the day you are travelling.

No I don't live in Oulu. But I once lived in a country not too far from Finland so I know a thing or two about the region.

I think legally, the British immigration requires that a Nigerian would need a transit visa no matter how short the stay. However, I always travel without a  transit visa and have never been disturbed.

its like this. if yur friend is going to use BA to finland and he only has

a finland visa, then he would a an Airport side transit visa , shocking, yeah??

if he already has a normal british visa, then its all good,

honestly speaking, its just too much of burden for these visa palaver,  thats y i use

the middle eastern route or european routes like paris or amstradam, best advice will be to just use klm

EDIT; klm will get you to helsinki for USD 1,258.29 tax inclusive,
