First Bank of Nigeria Limited and Stanbic IBTC have announced their respective sponsorship of the 2018 Social Media Week (SMW) scheduled to commence in Lagos today.

Both financial institutions made this known in separate statements made available recently.

The event which is Africa’s largest tech and digital media event would convene business leaders, global thinkers, entrepreneurs, Fintech firms, and media entrepreneurs.

FirstBank said it would be sponsoring the event for the third time to facilitate the evolution of technology in Africa with focus on having everyone who attends for business or pleasure, powered up the digital way.

The bank also revealed that it will be hosting a panel session at the event to deliberate on the topic “Financial Inclusion: Banking the Unbanked,” today.

FirstBank also stated that it would be activating its Digital Lounge at the event where participants will have the opportunity to engage directly with the Bank’s digital products and services.
Speaking on the event, FirstBank’s Group Head, Marketing & Corporate Communications, Folake Ani-Mumuney stated that social media plays the critical role of bridging the gap in diverse areas of human activities, keeping the world connected and abreast of trends and events.
On its part, Stanbic IBTC in its statement quoted its Chief Executive at Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc, Mr. Yinka Sanni, to have said that its active participation at this year’s eventwas a demonstration of the organisation’s commitment towards harnessing innovation and technology to build communities.

“In line with our brand promise to help move people and businesses forward; I am delighted to announce our participation in the 2018 social media week.
