The Kwara State House of Assembly on Tuesday passed an amendment bill halting payment of pension to former governors, deputy governors and other officers holding political offices after their tenure in office. The passage of the bill followed the consideration of the report of the House Committee on Establishment and Public Service at the Committee of the Whole House sitting in Ilorin. The motion for the passage of the bill was moved by the Deputy House Leader, Segilola Abdulkadir and was unanimously adopted by members. The Deputy Speaker, Matthew Okedare, who presided over the plenary, directed the Clerk of the House, Alhaji Mohammed Katsina, to prepare clean copy of the bill for governor’s assent. The bill, which was forwarded to the House by Gov. AbdulFatah Ahmed, sought to review the existing law where payment of pension for former governors and deputy governors after their tenures would be suspended.

Next should be Lagos State, Rivers and other states who have adopted this criminal and fraudulent means of daylight robbery.

This is a good news, this should become a federal law passed as well.
If you could not pay your workers in your state or pay all your federal workers no pension for you. Your leadership does not deserve to be rewarded until you die.

This is stopping the pension of former govs or deputy govs that have taken another political office. Those without another political office can take pensions so uduaghan etc would have a right to their pensions as they have no other political office

When I was thinking whether anything good can come out of kwara in terms of politics, yes for the first time after Lawal, something good is coming out of kwara.

Hope interim governor Abdulfatah will sign such bill because real governor saraki will never allow such.

Next should be Lagos state, though it can't happen now because they are there to serve jagaban of borgu and feed us the tax paying masses with peanut.

That won't happen because technically former presidents don't take other political offices (there's no office higher than president) and so they will always have access to pensions

lol some will think its a good news saraki have another source of found .after all the law will not implement.this is what they will use to deceive electorate's come 2019.
