We Didn’t Endorse Buhari For Second Term -APC by Dilijingsly(m): 12:42am On Mar 02, 2018
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has explained that its National Executive Committee did not endorse President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term in 2019. NAIJ.com had reported that the party’s NEC passed a vote of confidence on the president and urged him to contest in 2019. The Punch however reports that the party although confirmed that it passed a vote of confidence on the administration of President Buhari, it did not endorse him for another term. Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi who is the spokesperson of the party said endorsing Buhari was not part of the discussion they had. He said: “You will recall that the Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, addressed this issue while responding to a question on the issue of 2019 at yesterday (Tuesday’s) briefing when he said, the President has not said he wants to contest and that for now, his focus is on the issue of governance, so the issue of endorsing him (President) for a second term in 2019 did not arise.” Meanwhile, President Buhari says the ruling APC stabilised the country. He said this at the the National Executive Committee meeting of the APC held at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja on 27th February 2018. The president who in his speech gave credit of stabilising the country to APC state governors and other security agencies says as a result of prudent management of public finances, confidence in Nigeria has been restored. He also disclosed that the stand-off between the executive and the national assembly slowed the process of government. The president, however, said that they are working hard to resolve the differences so that the country can move
