No special forces operation should be conducted without drone or air cover, 2 mile radius cover minimum, how did they get so close without real time coms update, and no operative should abandon the advantage of cover thereby exposing them to harm

3) They had been doing missions like this for quite a while and grew complacent over time (the vehicles werent even armoured).
4) Arrangement for air support they had got dropped at the last minute but they proceeded anyway due to the aforementioned.
5) They were purposely delayed to allow for the ambush to set up and the team's Captain who was also the Comms operator died just right
at the onset of the ambush, by the time they radioed the French, it was already an hour into the battle and it took another hour (30 mins
prep n 30 ETA) for the Mirage jets to arrive.
6) On arrival, the French could not differentiate between them and the OppFor due to the close nature of the combat.

Now to the other business of this post,from the NYT article and video the Green Berets were done for even before the onset of the mission. The IS affiliates knew the terrain better, using the brushes for cover, operated on motorcycles, were generally better armed with their Technicals and most importantly the outnumbered their enemy - the 3 SOF, about 50 to 3. Putting these into consideration, I'd say they did pretty good as they managed to hold off the OppFor for around two hours and managed to kill say about 10 of them.
The militants also deserve some credit despite them being the 'bad guys' despite their relatively poor training and discipline:
1) They chose a very good spot to ambush the convoy using the brushes as cover.
2) They also use a herd of cows to stir up dust to screen their movements (ingenious indeed).
3)Also they had is addition to their technicals, bikes their infantry could move faster the Green Berets and we can see the effect of this as the two remaining SOFs were quickly overrun immediately they left their cover and tried to make it on foot.

Do you have any idea of the sitrep with africoms, they were supposed to coordinate baseplate, Egypt air base is a pedal jump away, yf-22s would have been able to assist, that secret base is always rolling ready with zeros and deltas are 6, I still think something was wrong and 3 sof running ops? Strange. And Nano strobes differentiates friendlies from hostiles it's visible from a mile away with infrared vision which the french don't have the access code to, the play should be
Vector in-delta out that's basic text book.

Good soldiers got torn up out there, they were left to dry.
