The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has hinted about its plan to let UTME candidates write their exams from home.

JAMB’s spokesperson, Dr Fabian Benjamin made this known on Monday, March 12, 2018, while featuring on Rock City FM Day Break Show, in Abeokuta.

According to Benjamin, JAMB is thinking of open book examinations that will allow candidates to write the examination from their houses, adding that JAMB is looking forward to getting the technology to facilitate it.

Speaking about the challenges facing candidates in the ongoing UTME, Benjamin said: “At any point, if there is an issue, we find a way to solve it to ensure all candidates write the UTME with convenience.”

UTME result will be delayed

Benjamin also said that the results of the exam would be delayed as there was a need to preview before releasing them.


“Once a candidate clicks submit, the result is ready but we wait to preview the results before releasing so we don’t cancel results later. You can detect malpractice even after exams.”



The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB Registrar, Prof Ishaq Oloyede had recently announced that it will take two or three days to release the results.

The 2018 edition of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination which started on Friday, March 9, 2018, will end on Saturday, March 17

Of course they will be strict with time. Instead of 1hr in the exam hall they will get 25 mins at home such that candidates won't even have time to look for expo.
