For every business, brochures are a sure way of boosting that brand. There is a range of marketing brochures that can help you promote your company, brand or business in more ways than one, but of what use is a brochure that will sit in the trashcans of the customers you want to read them? It’s just like fetching water to a basket in Nigerian local parlance, which translates to wasted effort. Creating a brochure that people actually read is a difficult task, no matter the business you find yourself in.

Content-based marketing for printing, research has proven doesn’t tend to be as engaging as the use of online media (multimedia help in that regard). However, we have worked out solutions that could be beneficial. These are 5 tips that will ensure that your customers are engaged with content and keep your brochures in their hands for a long time.

Proof-read your work

It wouldn’t be nice reading a particular text and you keep noticing or encountering spelling and grammatical errors. Perhaps you are the busy type who doesn’t really have the time to proof read what you have written, you might want to change in that regard. No customer trusts a brand that doesn’t take time to check their own marketing materials. Readers tend to notice bad sentence structure and spelling mistakes, which do not portray you as being professional.

Imagine a company sending you a mail, and we start with this,

“Gritings. We are a ABC company , one of the leading printing firms in Nigeria. How went your day? “

Guess your eyes are rolling already. Take time to edit text or get a professional if you don’t have the time.

Keep it short and simple

Everybody is moving at a very fast pace in the world we find ourselves at the moment, and this transcends to anything we find ourselves doing. One of the reasons newspapers aren’t attracting the younger generation is that there is too much text. People don’t have the luxury of time to read very long words, so make the text on the brochures short and interesting. Write engaging content that attracts people instantly, and also use infographics to display text.

Never use negative language

Most people tend to use negative language when highlighting why they are better than their competitors. Customers tend to be put off by this behaviour. Instead of using negative language to describe services you don’t offer at the moment, focus more on the benefits you are pushing towards the customer rather than the demerits of not doing business with you. Using belittling terns could come back to haunt you in the long-term peradventure you decide to start promoting the same thing you put down before. Everyone likes to be informed, not dictated to.

Give Yourself Some Space
Ironic as it sounds, white space doesn’t always mean space that is on a white background. It could also be referred to as blank space. When creating your brochures, leave space at certain points. Not because you don’t have content, but for the fact that it is important to create space and make the text easier to read. You stand a chance of disconnecting the reader with your brochure whenever there is a clustered text. This tip is very key as most people in their subconscious feel threatened by muddled-up text. The next step is to throw the brochure away without even reading it.
