*NOTICE*

As I said some days ago that the school (UNIBADAN) resumes on the 15th of June which was last week Saturday, in which most students resumed/ arrived UI yesterday and this morning. It has come to my notice that this week will be full of activities like student registration, orientation and matric, and most departments are working on bringing out a feasible timetable in order to kick off lectures as from next week Monday.

Furthermore, some departments (PG) will start their departmental registration this week which may likely extends till next week. Also, most/ some departments will start lectures as from next week Monday (e.g chemistry etc).

I would implore you to be on the look out. Go yo your department, ask necessary questions that may of great importance to those in your department living far away from Ibadan.

Payment of SECOND school fees by final year Postgraduate students of the University of Ibadan have commenced since yesterday (Monday). The 2017/18 Master students in Sociology Department are to pay their second or final school fees - a total sum of N59,400 (Fifty Nine Thousand Four Hundred naira). As for the 2018/19 newly-admitted postgraduate students in Sociology Department, your school fees will be double of the aforementioned amount. This applies to other Departments too.

Login your PG profile and you will see the fees Invoice (automatically) displaying on your page. You can pay online via your debit card (ATM card) or print the Invoice and make payment at any of the designated banks nationwide.

There is a room in a 3 room self contain available for rent. The other two rooms are locked as the tenant is not based in Ibadan anymore. Which means that the kitchen, toilet and bathroom are for only one person. There is a well in the compound and there is a borehole that opens every two days just outside the compound. 50 naira bike to ui gate. It goes for 24,000 naira a year. no agent fee. I repeat, there is no such thing as PAST question paper especially for the computer-based English Proficiency Test (EPT). But, I know thousands of "JJCs" will still join the bandwagon. Kindly practice the Sample Questions that will be sent to your online application dashboard after one has purchased the form. Practice it, very few questions may come from it. Above all, read ALL the Requirements/rules CAREFULLY before applying into the course and type of programme you wish to run. There is a big difference between Professional Masters and Academic Masters programme: one CANNOT run a PhD nor lecture with a Professional Masters degree!

The Matriculation Ceremony today is not compulsory for Postgraduate students who cannot make it, to attend. I and my 2017/18 colleagues did not attend any Matriculation Ceremony last year. All newly-admitted Postgraduate students will have a special ceremony at the UI International Conference Centre in one or two weeks time to fully welcome them as well as orient them about the University's programme. There will be food and drinks too for all you, more than enough during our time. Although, the ceremony is quite long and can even become boring.

As for the new Master students in the Department of Sociology particularly those specializing in Criminology and Penology, your lectures will begin latest by next week (July). The Master lecture room ("Room 238") at the Department, Faculty of the Social Sciences Building, is currently under maintenance. My advice is for all of you to be serious especially Criminology students (and those in Development Studies). You will not be shown your first and second semester results until the final or third semester after one has paid your second school fees, thus one must take every course seriously.

As it stands, we are yet to see our own results - we are blindfolded as to our fates, but I believe success is sure. Get books and other relevant materials!
