2019: Majority Leader, Abia Youths endorse Ikpeazu for 2nd term

The Majority Leader of Abia State House of Assembly, Engr. Chinedum Orji, has led other youths in the State to endorse Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for a second term in office.

Chief Orji who spoke in front of a mammoth crowd of Abia youths drawn from across the state, as the Chairman of the Abia Mega Youths Rally Grand finale held at the Umuahia township stadium, extolled the leadership qualities of Governor Ikpeazu whom he described as “a high achieving humble and humane representative of young people in government”.

The majority leader also led thousands of Abia youths to pass a vote of confidence on the Governor and adopted him as their sole gubernatorial candidate for 2019 election.

According to the law maker, “justice demands that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu completes his two tenures as other former Governors from Abia North and Central did. We therefore call on Abia youths to get their Permanent Voters Cards, which is their power, and ensure that after the enthronement of equity in Abia State, Justice is also enthroned. It is only with equity and Justice that we can sustain the rapid developments that we are enjoying in our dear state and there is no alternative to justice after equity has been ensured.”

In his reaction, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu commended Abia youths for being enterprising and stated that he is proud of them. According to him, “I am proud of our youths for their positive contributions to the development of the state including being the embodiment of the spirit of entrepreneurship in our state and vendors of our hope for a grater Abia and Igboland”.

“My commitment is to ensure that everything is done to support our young people to compete globally and excel. That’s why we sent 30 of you to China to learn automated shoe making. We are preparing to send another batch to China while also continuing with our Education for Employment and skill acquisition programs to give our youths necessary skills to become job creators or work at blue chip organizations. For Abia youths there is nothing we won’t do to ensure that they are gainfully engaged and enabled to contribute even more to our accelerated development drive”

The Governor who thanked the youths for their support, stated that he is confident that the crop and number of youths supporting his administration would outweigh those of his opponents who thrive on recruiting young people as thugs to carry ballot boxes during elections.

He also challenged those who would want to contest against the ruling party (PDP) in the State to paste their campaign posters on the projects they have done for Abia people, warning that nobody should paste bills on the projects done by his administration.

“You cannot sit in Lagos, Abuja and Facebook to abuse us everyday and then come to Abia to paste your pictures on our Flyover, roads and other infrastructure done by us. While you were facing book we were facing work in Abia State and when you come to contest against us post your materials only at those projects you did for Abians, whether in your private or public capacity. This is a ‘come and see what I have done election’, not lies propaganda and snatching of ballot boxes then turning round to accuse others.”

The Governor congratulated the awardees of the Abia Mega Rally, including Engr Chinedum Orji (Gold winner), Rt Hon (Dr) Cosmas Ndukwe (Silver winner), Chief Ginger Onwusibe (Bronze winner), Chief Erondu Uchenna Erondu (Bronze winner), Mr Chinenye Nwogu (Bronze winner), Chief Chima Anyaso (Bronze winner) and Chief Emeka Ikwuagwu (Bronze winner). He charged them to continue to be worthy ambassadors of Abia youths as well as mentor other young people to serve the state meritoriously.
