A wild pandemonium erupted at Akwa Efak last Thursday night, breaking Friday, when well-furnished two bed-room flat, belonging to one Mr. Tom Honesty went into dancing flames, leaving all he had laboured for, including his credentials and life documents, in white ashes.




Narrating his ordeal to our reporter in tears, Mr. Honesty said the area had a permanent low voltage which was worse than the light of a candle for months. So when they saw PHED staff drove into the street and resume some work in the transformer, they were happy. According to him, the technicians worked on the transformer at night and left around 8 pm.
At about 10:30 to 11 pm, when power was restored, the voltage was incredibly high that there was a spondaic explosions on the street from electric bulbs which had blown.

According to him, he had just returned from viewing centre where he went to watch champions league and was sitting outside his house. Suddenly, he perceived burning flames emanating from the direction of his house. As he rushed to switch off his appliances and gadgets, behold he was greeted by wild flames of fire inside the house. He shouted for help and before people could come out as it was getting late, the fire had over whelmed their manual efforts. Tom earlier told our reporter that he called the fire service around 11 pm, but they arrived after 1 pm when all his properties including credentials and life documents had been swallowed by the inferno.

When contacted, for their reactions, Manager, Customer Service, Victor Akpabio said the development was pathetic and even the District Manager of Edet Akpan Avenue (4 Lanes), equally expressed remorse and agreed it was an accident. He promised that the company will send the report to Port Harcourt and will reach back to the victim.

Meanwhile residents of the area, whose refrigerators, televisions, bulbs and other appliances were destroyed by the super voltage accident, say if after days of patience, nothing positive is seen, the elasticity of their patience may be severed.

Dem no Sabi anything

If dis was a sane society and country , dey'll b made to pay heavily for dat damage.. Dat was how dey connected a new transformer sometime ago in my area and basically everyone had to change all their bulbs... A day afta d connection and everyone was carrying some of their appliances upandan for repairs..

PHED don buy job, if he has all his documentations to prove ownership he can be assured of an adequate compensation for the costly mistake made

I guess he got the job through " man know man"
