You are the colour in a black and white world The virtuous vessel where my life was stored You were my guide and doorway to this earth Got my greatest comfort in your womb, before birth Your arms, for me, were my best pillows On your back I rode, floating above the ground below I remember how I used to hold on and never let go Now I’m grown, and celebrate the bosom that was my home Your body nourished me through my infant years, Your hands were the wipes that cleaned up my tears, Your voice of assurance fought away my fears, Your lullabies were food for my ears I was once nothing more than a liquid seed You are the fertile soil that made me into this solid tree Able and free to bear fruits as the sands of the sea You were the beginning of all I could ever be My love for you outlives this ink in my pen Which wrote these words for you and others You are most honoured amongst all women But exceptionally distinguished amongst mothers 2 Likes 2 Shares |
