OAU’s Cutoff Simplified
(Tags: OAU, admission, post-utme, postutme, nairaland, cut-off, cutoff, jamb)

First of all—lady or gentleman—I must repeat this information just as I do every now and then, OAU never releases the cutoff they will use for a particular year’s admission until all the screening are done, and it is from the result of the screening OAU gets the cutoff they will use for the year. Contrary to what many think, the OAU admission board don’t just sit down and decide this-and-that is what we will be use in admitting the applicants we want to admit, the applicants help the board decide what the cutoff will be, the board only do some calculations and publicize the result of the calculations as the cutoff.... Well, after it all, I’m happy to inform the public that the registration for the 2018/2019 OAU post-UTME screening has began now, and it is real. You can register wherever you are using the schools eportal. But it is advisable you don’t give the job to people who don’t know so much about OAU’s post-UTME. It is also dangerous for you to use your own registration in learning how to do the registration—that could affect your admission. Any mistake counts in OAU o. if you have anyone whose meticulousness and sincerity you can bank on, and they are in Ife, it is better you send the money to them and let them handle the registration for you. Quote me anywhere, everything about OAU involves experience and perfection—especially the admission processes. Rad more here >>>> http://wuyisblog..com/2018/08/oau-post-utme-out-now-really-tags.html

You know, the part of OAU post-UTME I always find amusing (sort of) is when after writing the exam, the self-appraising candidates begin to act like they have killed OAU post-UTME, just because the questions are simpler than they expected, but then, when the results are released, these same candidates who act like they have killed OAU post-UTME start to say things like “this is not my result”, “they marked people down”, “there is mass failure” e.t.c just because their results don’t match how correct they thought they are with the answers after writing the exam. Now, this is what all OAU post-UTME candidates must know about the exam to avoid being one of those candidates who will think they have killed OAU post-UTME but will end up being the dead ones when the results are released…

OAU Post-UTME Has Been Written, Now What?
OAU Post-UTME has been written, now what? This is the question the wise OAU applicants should be asking right now—even when it is only few hours away from when the writing of the exam ended. However, the wisest applicants by now would have gone far beyond asking this question, because believe me, right now, they have gotten the answers to this question and they are already doing what they should do—if they haven’t.

This is not only a requirement but also an understanding-requiring issue, and it’s the explanation of what happens when a candidate has “Eligible for Admission” on their result slip and yet they are not offered admission. Now, let me be blunt about this, as an OAU aspirant, you can smile when you check your post-UTME result and you find “Eligible for Admission” there, but don’t let your smile get too wide yet. This is because “Eligible for Admission” only means that OAU has successfully classified everyone who wrote the post-UTME into two; one of the two classes don’t deserve to be considered for admission at all and some of the other class can be considered (if they have what they should have and do what they should do and in time). I’m saying, after seeing “Eligible for Admission” on your result slip, you still have one more level to win before standing the full chance to be offered admission, I’m talking about the departmental cutoffs here. Because you are considered “Eligible for Admission” does not mean you have gotten the cutoff mark for your aspired department and that is what we are all waiting for right now—the cutoff—to help us know who is really getting the admission to the department they applied to and who is not. Now, I have to warn you, if you have “Eligible for Admission” on your result slip and you do not meet the cutoff of your department, please don’t make the mistake of thinking OAU is automatically considering you for another department that matches your cutoff; hell no! OAU doesn’t do that. OAU does not automatically consider you for admission to a department you have not applied to. Now pay attention to how I’ve been putting the word automatically in my statements. That’s me saying though OAU does not by default starts considering you for admission to another department of lesser cutoff just because you are eligible for admission but you do not meet the cutoff of your department, however, if you do your running around and processing when you should do them, that is when you are considered for another department, and that’s the real idea behind the “Eligible for Admission”, it just makes it mean if you tried and did what you have to do, you could be admitted anyways (to another department or even yours), even when you do not meet the cutoff of your department. To the Registar's office or to the Admission office, whichever one it gets to, it will surely get to the right hands (only time will differ). That's why it is better you get it to the admission office (PAR) where you need it.

About the slots-trading that I mentioned earlier on, I must let you know that even if you have anyone to whom you have submitted your admission request and they are using a slot they have or have bought for you, please don’t leave them alone, don’t let them rest, let them feel your urge for the admission, because without that, believe me, no matter how much they have collected from you for the slot they are using for you, there will be people who will be willing to pay more after the cutoffs are released, and trust me, most runsmen don’t have enough strength to rebuke any better offer considering what the new candidate is paying more than you. They will just return your money to you after the admission lists are released and your name is not there, and even at that it’ll still mean they gained while you lose. Even if the person you know is only given you the slot and not selling it to you, they could still remove your file and replace it with another person’s file that has a better relationship with them than you do (relationship seriously matters in OAU). In this case when your name is replaced with another’s on a slot meant to be used for you, it would only be that when the admission list is released and your name isn’t on it, this your supposed benefactor will never tell you they replaced your with another person’s, they will only create a believable story for you as par why your name is not on the list and ask you to write UTME again next year with the promise that they will be there for you through it all. So please, be on the safe side, whoever it is you have running your admission processes for you; whether you paid them for that or they are just doing it for free, please give them no breathing space! In fact, live in their phone! If you know what I mean.

I believe OAU's Medicine and Law only takes DE who already has a first degree (B.Sc or HND), not JUBEP, not OND.

Runsmen, the “eligible” OAU aspirants and the parents who have children in this category, there is nothing we look forward to right now more than the OAU departmental cutoffs. On my own path as a runsman, I know why I await the cutoffs earnestly, but that is not why I’m making this article. I’m making this article to explain the reason why a person would lose their admission because they are some marks below their aspired departmental cutoff but another person with a lesser score would gain the admission anyways. This is it, there is a reason why OAU releases admission list thrice…

However, of all that’s been explained, admission processing covers them all. Admission processing starts from when the UTME form is obtained, to the level of guidance for the appropriate course, to the level of providing materials, information and strategies for gaining the admission, and doing the running around till the admission is gained. I only get to have 10-15 of candidates like this per session. In fact I bring them down to Ife for specialized tutoring for the UTME and post-UTME with fine hostel provided for them. It is almost impossible for any candidate to not get admission to their aspired department on merit when all these processes are gone through as recommended. There is slot, there is “runs”, but admission processing covers them all. There are reasons why sending your ward/child to Ife as early as they are ripe to write UTME works; the school environment itself is a motivation to aspirants, and also, the best tutors who understand how to get into OAU easily can only be found around OAU. Send your kid to Ife sir/ma’am if you really want that admission for them, they will not die! Quote me anywhere sir/ma’am, the tendency of being admitted on merit to the desired department in OAU after studying in Ife for the UTME and also for the post-UTME is almost 100%.
