After Over 20years Of Neglect,FG approves N20.8bn For Ikorodu-Sagamu road by GoodGovernance: 9:18am On Mar 29, 2018

After over 20years of neglect and hardship, economic and social succur have probably come to the people and residents of Ikorodu and Sagamu, not excluding motorists that also ply the highly dilapidated Ikorodu-Sagamu road ,on a regular basis.

The Federal Executive Council on Wednesday approved a sum of N20.8 billion for the rehabilitation of the Ikorodu-Sagamu road in Lagos and Ogun States.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammad, stated this while briefing State House correspondents after the FEC meeting.

The meeting, which lasted over five hours, was presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The minister said the project, when completed, woud reduce operating cost and enhance movement of petroleum and agricultural products in the region.

The FEC also considered a memo from the Ministry of Transportation (Aviation) and awarded a contract for the design, manufacture and installation of fully automated fire and smoke aircraft training simulator. The total contract sum is N4,233.756bn.

The information minister said that’’this firefighting equipment is extremely very important because when we came into government in 2015, I found myself approving several hundreds of thousands of dollars for our fire fighters to go to Cameroun to get trained for proficiency in firefighting and come back to fight fire in Nigeria with 30 airports. We cannot continue to depend on a neighbouring country to learn how to fight fire. So, we conceptualised and developed the project. Federal fire service, state governments and anybody can leverage on the equipment that we will bring to fight fire,”
