JJT Park Alausa And The Eyo Statue, A Christian Perspective by RighteousI: 11:02pm On Apr 02, 2018
Driving through Alausa, Ikeja, one will locate JJT Park that was opened last year. A statue of the Eyo masquerade sits on a water fountain in the park. It has been designed such that visitors can walk on the fountain through the Eyo masquerade statue.

The question I am asking is whether it is appropriate for a Christian to visit such a park. Is it sinful for a Christian to attend such a park? Should a Christian associate him or herself with such masquerades?

Note that the yoruba tradition as well as other African tribes mix religion with culture. If should be noted that the Eyo masquerade is religious and not cultural. The government should have realized that such statues in a public park can cause a controversy, government is supposed to be secular.
Since they have dedicated a public park to Eyo masquerade, then they should do the needful, which is to also dedicate a public park to Christianity.

You are a very very foolish idiotic asshole! There are many parks or gardens in Lagos that you can visit without any masquerade tormenting you.

And why do you even want to visit a park? Jesus did not visit any park except the wilderness, so as a christian, you're all expected to emulate him by going deep inside the jungle or wilderness (an uncultivated, uninhabited, and inhospitable region) where anaconda or a king cobra can use you for biting-practice. cry

It is written in your useless bible to “flee from every appearance of evil”. It did not say “challenge every appearance of evil”.

Therefore, if you've got any problem with that park because of the eyo masquerade, then by all means, avoid plying that route. There are more than 3 roads connecting Alausa in Ikeja.

Even your Jesus did not go poking his nose into the affairs of the unbelievers in his days - so please, mind your business!

Where is your faith?

As a christian, a follower of Jesus Christ you need not be afraid of one eyo this or masquerade that. You have been place above them , wielding power and authority over them.

In the beginning when Baba God create man, He created us in His own image and blessed us to reproduce, multiply and replenish the earth. He did not stop there but He went on to bless us with power and authority, to take dominion and rule over everything in the air, land and in the water but unfortunately through the act of disobedience and rebellion man lost those right and power to satan but thank God for Jesus whose coming and sacrifice has restored back all that back to us as long as you believe and accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour.
