2019 Presidential Debates: 10 Ways Broadcasting Stations Can Make The Election Unique And Successful

One of reasons for the 2015 massive choice of president Buhari over former president Goodluck Jonathan is due to lack of people's awareness about existence of other presidential aspirants - maybe a better candidate would have emerge apart from the two previously mention.

The poor choice can in a way be attributed to inadequacy in the contributions of various broadcasting media in the country towards the 2015 general election that resulted into lack of people awareness through organizing of public debates.

The Nigeria broadcasting stations either jointly or individualy should begin to organize public debates for aspirants both at governorship and presidential level. This is how they can best help Nigerians to make informed decision come 2019 general election.

I am challenging to NTA, Channels TV, AIT, Splash FM, and other broadcasting stations to begin to organise public debates where governorship and presidential aspirants will be sent public invitations to participate in debates. Absent of any aspirant should be the begining of his or her road to people's disqualification.

Succesful public political debates will::

1. Help Nigerian citizens to make informed decision at an early stage about whom they will cast their vote for.

2. Citizens will be able to interact with their desired candidates, ask questions and have a glimpse about their mental capacity.

3. Nigeria Citizen will be able to hold any candidate who eventual win his or her aspired post by their words and make make them more accountable.

4. Public debates will help the citizen to know about existence of other aspirants rather than the two popular parties we have in nigeria.

5. Manifestos and debates will help political aspirants to see beyond campaign jamboree and try to find reasonable and workable solutions to possible arising issues while they prepare themselves to answer question in the public debates.

6. A successful political debates will give any organiser broadcasting station more credibility and trust from the citizen.

7. Make people to make their choice of candidate base of what they know rather than on religion, ethnic or political sentiments which they normaly rely on due to lack of information about aspiring candidates

8. Public debateĀ  can in a way expose lie, deceit and falsehood by any aspirant at early stage.

9. Watching political debates can encourage 'election-fence-sitters' to get their pvc and go out to vote

10. Pilitical debates will help create a voice and awareness for any less popular candidate whose is sincere to bring positive change and move Nigeria forward

Do you support political debates? How soon should one occur?
