it has happened to me several times, i think it is usually caused when there is not enough or no saliver avialable to ease the food movement down to the stomach

Doctors Advice, never eat without water by your side, except its liquid food.

Reverse is the case now as some people/doctors now advice eating without drinking water.
they said that it's better to drink water 30mins before or after food as doing both is over-working the digestive organ.

My folks and colleagues have long started practising it even my 13yrs nephew has followed suit.

for me, cant eat without water, have had to try it but cant just put ma self through that all in the name of health consciousness

wats hapenin,dont we have doctors on the forum to provide there specialist advice? not that i depend on them anyway,because the next you wil here is, water is good for your system or too much of water is not good,or dont take water till after eating or take water only after eating.Just as they will say red wine is good for digestion and the same time say alchohol is bad for you health.Abeg make them comot,anyhow man go survive till baba God call am.Sweet potatoes is however the most dangerous,anyone felt its impact before?please dont do it without water no matter how hungry you are.For me,i will always try eating with water by  my side and i urge ya all to follow suite

I love YAMS and because l can see a few other people also do, l am going to share my little secret with ya'all.

The rick is to eat soft, succulent dissolving YAM! HOW?

1.) Put your tubber of YAM in the freezer, let it freeze rock solid (best way to preserve yam, even for months!)
2.) bring it out the night before the time you want to dagger it (Say 10-12 hours earlier).
3.) Let it thaw naturally by itself.
4.) Peel and cook in enough water  

The "Physics" is that when it freezes, the water in the Yam freezes but in doing so, breaks the Yam down!

And it is never the same again, now its as soft as "otuu-yelleeee, isu-epoo"

*'shakes head and brandish a Dagger to damage that Yam on the kitchen table'*

Just try it and report back to the house.

sweet potatoes and bread are culprits in this crime. it normally does happen when you eat too fast and swallow large chunks of food.
next time it happens and drinking of water or soda doesnt help, try and induce vomit by stroking the inner part of your tongue close to your throat with the tail end of your toothbrush. by the time you throw up abit, my guess is you would feel much better.

One day i was in the parlour playing playstation and my sister brought my food. I was too lazy to get water, i started munching and munching till my oesophagus become clogged. I have even been told that I eat quickly though I take small bites. The occasional rice here and there but I don't usually need water. I just think we have a bunch of greedy people on Nairaland LOL

well, i know it has happened to me before but what scared me some time last month, was when i was eating indomie and it got stuck in my throat and when i finally got water as i was swallowing the water, it became so painful,i felt the pain for 4hours, i lost apetite for the indomie!!!!
