The Internet has become a necessity today. Nigeria lags behind, just like in every other sector.

Nigerians are missing out on online commerce, free education, free HD entertainment, crystal clear A/V communication, etc.
If Nigeria relies on MTN, Glo, etc, would the status quo improve to where any Nigerian can get broadband for less than 1% of their income?

For example:
in Lithuania, 100mb/s up/down costs 10 Euros/month.
You can up the speed to 600mb/s for 20 Euros/month.
Lowest option is 50mb/s for 5 euros.

When is Nigeria going to step into the #1 position on anything other than 419?

Buhari, Saraki, Fashola, calling on you to uplift Nigeria. You can do it if you want to. There are even world bank grants available for these sort of things.

Get rid of the bureaucratic rigmarole. Get rid of the inflated contracts. Start by building Nigeria's Internet backbone.
Then make policies that massively roll out Fiber Optic connectivity. Fiber does not have to be wired connection either. 'Wireless fiber' could give gigabit Internet speeds with no cables at all.

Cheap broadband Internet can do more for Nigeria than Agriculture could. This is because fast Internet opens the door for global commerce, with the potential of a typical Nigerian earning foreign currency for his services. Imagine a customer support agent earning $5/hour. That is N72,200/week.

Imagine a computer programmer earning $15/hour, or N216,600/week.
Imagine a popular youtube vlogger bringing in $1,000/week, or N360K.

Yes, that kind of income is not a pipe dream. But we need affordable Internet for that to happen.
