Run For Good Health

Running on the open road, in the morning sun and fresh air surrounded by like minded health enthusiasts no doubt invigorates the mind and body.

But running can be challenging especially for beginners but here are some reasons to encourage you to hit the track.

Top Five (5) Reasons For Running This Saturday;

Get Moving: So many of us are lawyers, receptionists, managers, office workers etc. While all these are promising professions their sedentary nature which keeps us seated for long periods of time harms our health over time.

Healthy Lifestyle: A healthy lifestyle is necessary for good health. Good health is not attained from occasional (once in a blue moon) exercises but from regular activity. Inculcating healthy activities such as running in your calendar helps to build a healthy lifestyle.

Detoxification: So much toxins and contaminants are inhaled or even eaten during the course of our daily activities. Running gives us the chance to get rid of all of these through sweating and deeply exhaling. Sweating which comes from running helps rid the body of liquid toxins ingested while breathing in and out rids the body of the toxins of inhaled.

Trim Shape: Nothing trims you to a fit and taut body shape like running. Especially when training and running marathons your legs to your calves, thighs, waist and upper body every part of you becomes more slim and slender.

Best for Beginners: Beginner runners in the quest of peak health fitness that dream of finishing full lenght 42km marathons but are intimidated may start with this 10km event before undertaking the fitness milestone of full blown marathon.

Women's Health First

As the care givers of the family women get double stress from work and family while forgetting to take care of theirselves.

Well come this Saturday madam, take a break from work, leave the kids with their daddy and let him do the cooking and cleaning so he can feel the stress for a change. While you, put on your running shoes, take your bottled water and your soul sister for the Lagos Women Run.

Treat yourself to that much needed fresh air and fun in the sun that you've been putting off for so long due to yout baby's diaper duty and husband drama.

By the time you're done. You'll be refreshed and more energetic to resume your work and family hustle.

So run, jog, walk, stroll or even swagger your way to the finish line as you put your health first.

It doesn't matter if you start late, if many people are ahead of you, or even if you stumble or stop a few times.

What's important is that you... keep moving forward.

Easy Marathons

Running marathons are so EASY that even children can do it!

Marathons are difficult and they are for adults!

In fact, one does not simply run a marathon.

It requires good health first (it is dangerous for people in poor health to participate in marathons) and preparation. Physically and mentally! You have to prepare your mind and body for the arduous task of surmounting a distance of 42km or even 10km. So that's where training comes in.

Training is actually the best part of marathons.

When you train, you're upgrading your body's health level as training removes toxins from your body, services your internal organs and tones your muscles.

Whether it's a few minutes or a few hours a day, preparing for a marathon is good for you and it makes the marathon safer as marathons can be risky (health wise) for some people.

Bib Collection
The race to the finish line starts with your bibs and bib collection began this week at the Teslim Balogun Stadium Surulere, Lagos from 9am - 5pm, Mondays - Fridays.

There isn't is a crowd of people yet but as the race gets closer (Saturday February 2nd) the more crowded it will get.

In case you haven't registered, do it online at www.lagoscitymarathon.com and choose your race of either the 10km or 42km.

Our bodies get stressed and strained, day in day out, this is our chance to prime ourselves back to good health.
