PHILIPPPE COUTINHO is in line to receive a Champions League
winners medal should Liverpool triumph in the competition in May.

Coutinho played five times for Liverpool in Champions League group stages and scored five goals for the Reds.

In the final group game, Coutinho scored his first hat-trick for Liverpool as they beat Spartak Moscow 7-0.

But in January, Coutinho left Anfield and joined Barcelona for a club-record fee of £146m.

Because of his participation in Europe for Liverpool, Coutinho was
ineligible to play for Barcelona in the knock-out stages.

And the Spanish side missed the Brazilian as they crashed out to Roma in the quarter-finals last night.

In contrast, Liverpool sealed their place in the semi-finals with a
2-1 second leg win against Manchester City to progress 5-1 on
aggregate.

And should Liverpool go on to win Europe’s top competition for the sixth time, Coutinho would be eligible for a medal having been part of the winning team.

UEFA regulations state: “The winning team is presented with forty
gold medals and the runner-up with forty silver medals. “Additional medals may not be produced.”

Liverpool have produced an impressive response to losing one of
their key players.

And speaking last month, Klopp hailed his players for raising their
level.

He said: ”Philippe Coutinho was a very, very dominant player in our game. When we were not at our best it was often a good idea to give him the ball. I'm not sure if that is good or not.

“It was always like this when Phil didn't play, we had to do the job differently. To give the responsibility on different shoulders and split it between the players.

"Now it's been a few weeks I am happy by the reaction of the
boys. They have stepped up. People think if one player is missing
the whole building is going to fall down. I don't believe in this."
