INVESTORS TO STAKE FRESH N250BN IN NIGERIA RICE PRODUCTION
Following plans to establish additional 14 rice mills in the country, investors have committed additional N250billion into Nigeria’s rice production. This is in addition to the current N300billion invested by processors

The Minister of Agriculture Audu Ogbeh, who disclosed this during a Rice Conference organised by Agro Nigeria in Abuja, said the country would save $300million from import substitution through local processing.

CBN INJECTS $210M INTO FOREX MARKET TO SUSTAIN LIQUIDITY
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has injected $210 million into the Inter-bank Foreign Exchange Market.

The forex injection was in line with the apex bank’s desire to ensure that forex is available for customers’ needs in various segments of the market.

According to the figures obtained from the CBN, the bank offered $100 million to authorised dealers in the wholesale segment of the market, while the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) segment received the sum of $55 million.

AUTO CRASH VICTIMS’ FAMILIES FILE N320M LAWSUIT AGAINST DANGOTE
Two families have sued the founder of Dangote Group of companies and Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, and his companies, following the killing of their relatives in an accident involving a truck they claimed belong to the businessman’s company.

According to court papers filed before the Lagos State Multi-Door Courthouse, the accident happened on January 9, 2018, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. It claimed the lives of 10 passengers in a commercial bus with registration number BDJ 410 YM.

OUR DEMOCRACY IS UNDER ATTACK – PDP
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday accused the President Muhammadu Buhari administration of pushing the country to the brink by breaching the constitution, the law and all known democratic processes.

It also alleged that the All Progressive Congress (APC) and its agents have resorted to harassing and persecuting members of the opposition with a view to decapitating opposition and other dissenting voices and foist a one-party state on Nigeria.

NIGERIA’S POPULATION NOW 198 MILLION – NPC
The Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Eze Duruiheoma, says Nigeria’s population is now approximately 198 million.

He disclosed this when delivering Nigeria’s statement on sustainable cities, human mobility and international migration at the ongoing 51st session of Commission on Population and Development in New York.
