I have noticed that most solar street light projects don't last more than a year. What could be the reason? And how can this ugly trend be mitigated? |

Solar panels are about 90% maintenance free. They need to be cleaned once in a while to free the surface from dust. The main issue lies with the batteries used.Most battery can only be recharged about 300+ times before they start failing. Apparently, that’s like a year. Another reason is the use of substandard products. Cheap LED bulbs that burn after few hours of usage, solar chargers that don’t last , and battery that are well below rated volt and Ah. 1 Like |

That means most of the contractors are just after making excessive profit to the detriment of Nigerians. Please,I would like to know the Brands that are good and long-lasting in respect to all the components. 1 Like |
