1. A dry port (sometimes inland port) is an inland intermodal terminal directly connected by road or rail to a seaport and operating as a centre for the trans-shipment of sea cargo to inland destinations.

2. The Ajimobi-led government has provided 60,000 hectares of land in lieu of a partnership with the Nigeria Shipper's Council to bring this kind of modern Dry Port described above to Oyo state.

3. This Modern Dry Port coming to Oyo is the latest attestation to the Investment-friendliness that has surged in the past 6 years, and it will be situated along the Oyo-Ibadan expressway.

4. Named "The Ibadan Fry Port", is estimated to provide 10,000 direct jobs, as it'll serve as the main conduit for the passage of goods to the entire southwest and other parts of Nigeria.

5. Additionally, and for efficiency, the Ibadan Dry port will have a 35,000 hectare Truck Transit Park, set up together with it.

6. On its own, the Truck Transit Park will generate an additional 25,000 jobs, as it will provide added security for cargoes through seamless tracking of goods.

7. By gains, this Ibadan Dry Port is set to geometrically boost the internally-generated revenue of Oyo state.

8. The overall economic benefits and impact are massive, especially for the people, as there'll be maximization of the employment opportunities.

9. Also, there will be a reduction in road carnage along the expressway, as this dry port is poised to function together with the ongoing Lagos-Kano Rail project, decongesting heavy traffic on the road.

10. Ultimately, a key lesson here is that the Governor Abiola Ajimobi-led government has proven again, that consistently attracting investments of this size and impact to the state, is NOT rocket science.

Setting aside 60,000 acres of land for a dry port is a good idea, unlike the stupid idea of setting aside thousands of acres of land for cattle colony.
I like Ajimobi even though he's in the wrong party.
