The IMF advised oil-dependent economies, including Nigeria to intensify economic diversification as it foresees the crash of crude oil prices in the near future. Nigeria may be heading on to another economic recession. Recall that the one it just came out from was caused by a crash in the global oil prices. Now, another crash has been predicted by the International Monetary Fund, IMF at a time Nigeria hasn’t weaned itself of oil revenues. Economic growth in the West African nation has at best been fragile. On Tuesday, the IMF launched its latest World Economic Outlook Report and predicted that Nigerian economy will grow from 0.8% in 2017 to 2.1% by the end 2018, while warning of possible crash in crude oil prices.
