Ruling on playing ANY GAME that has in it usage of dice...

The scholars have said that it is not permissible to play any game that has in it usage of dice, a very harsh prohibition from the Prophet due to some authentic hadeeths, one of them in sahih Muslim, where the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam said: "Whoever plays with dice, it is as if he has dipped his hand into the meat and blood of a pig"

One might want to ask, are you telling me dice have been in existence in the time of the Prophet? Of course even before his time and before the time of Jesus even, help yourself here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dice

Having said that.....

Imam An-nawawiy rahimahullaah said in his explanation of sahih Muslim: "And this hadeeth is the proof used by the shaafi'is and majority of the scholars that said playing using dice is haram. And the meaning of 'He has dipped his hand into the meat and blood of a pig' is as if he has eaten from them and eating from them is haram therefore playing dice is haram as well."

It is also narrated in other hadeeths in ibn maajah and Abu dawood where the Prophet said : "Whoever plays with dice, he has already disobeyed Allaah and his messenger " the hadeeth was graded to be reliable by Shaykh Albaani in sahih Abi Dawood.

So these hadeeths mentioned points clearly to the prohibition of games that dice are used like:- ludo, backgammon, zombie dice, dice chess, etc any game at all, as far as dice are used in it, then its haram.

I hope those who while away time with Ludo and the likes (particularly during Ramadan) will read this and change! Dice games are forbidden in Islam.
