Handsomegod: Make una dey talk. If you guys don't drop that interethnic agenda and Jewish ish, you will be deceiving yourselves to be a matyr that you are not. Everybody sees IPOB as an Igbo thing and kill only Igbos for it, yet each day we hear how IPOB incorporates Benue, Cross River, and central /South Delta. The same Benue that saw to the pogrom that led to the civil war. You people aren't serious 4 Likes 1 Share |

horsepower101:Yeah, I never even thought about Nnewi and Aba. Huge potentials bro. The Chinese would even be open to such idea. Take a look at Lumous a Chinese solar company partnering with MTN to provide cheap and affordable solar energy to families and homes. Lumous manufactures while MTN publicizes. Igbo entrepreneurs can tow this line too by bringing in a Chinese firm based in the east that can partner another telecom company to do likewise in Nigeria. The telecom company does the marketing and billing, while the eastern company is involved in the manufacturing and installing. That would be a wonderful. 1 Like |

I'm not as forgiving as Handsomegod. I've since learnt to say it as it is when dealing with characters like that Chiwude; he has the same 'one Nigeria' mindset with the likes of Zik, Nzeogwu and most of our present crop of political elite....that's if he actually is Igbo? This gullible, naive and wanting to appease type of mindset is exactly why we're where we are today! A red flag is usually raised when a so called Igbo person talks of IPOB and Nnamdi Kanu is such a condescending or abusive manner while at the same time either ignoring the evil schemes of the likes of Buhari and his fulani army or tying to justify them in any way. 7 Likes |

Chiwude:Chiwude. Freedom fighting is not a marathon. It is a relay .After one champion goes down, another takes over from where he stopped. There are no hard and fast rules to it.Infact, the most critical factor in freedom fighting is raising the objective consciousness of the citizens. IPOB agitations is a mixed signal to Nigerians but it stands out as the greatest catalyst of Igbo consciousness home and abroad since after the war. I am no IPOB member.I am all for Igbo interests hence my leaning on IPOB and other Pan-Igb groups. You keep faulting Nnamdi Kanu of many ills but failed to note that till date,no one can point to IPOB destructive potentials except conjectures and speculations like you littered your post with. IPOB today stands as the biggest and most organized freedom movement in human history. They hold rallies in all foreign nation capitals simultaneously and they are self sustaining. That we failed to see the enormous political and economic advantages of their existence is a mystery to me.Their modus operandi and request are constitutional and legitimate. Even Jesus did not spare the political and religious leaders of his day so why do you have a problem that Nnamdi genuinely lambasted the below par leaders we have in our neck of woods?. We all agree here that the quality of our leaders is one of the albatross to our development. They (IPOB) called for War? Who said anything about war? IPOB repeatedly made it clear it is peaceful and will never resort to violence no matter the provocation and they have stuck with that.Their peaceful resolve is their winning strategy. MNK chose Judaism as his forte and at no time was that a problem to other faiths. By some hindsight or higher consciousness,Nnamdi predicted both the current APC disaster and the Fulani herdsmen carnage agenda. In all his faults, such is not a kind of man to ignore. I can bet that Kanu had more "converts" in death than when he was here. It took his exit and the events following there from to convince people he was right all along. If all you could hold on to were all you mentioned above and not the hypocrisy of the Nigerian government in handling of MNK , then it is a pity. If until now,it does not occur to you that conniving with the Federal to decimate IPOB will yet remain the biggest error of our leaders, then it is sad. Some groups have committed and are still committing higher treason, killing, maiming and disrupting the sovereignty of Nigeria as we speak but they are rather being compensated with covert Federal protection, amnesty and drafting into the armed forces for some sinister agenda, yet IPOB is the fall guy in your estimation. For waving flags, insignias and holding mass rallies?Ridiculous!. Unfortunately for Nigeria, the Biafra narrative championed by IPOB,with all the imperfections you listed above, has since become a global political and human rights point of discussion. It is no more a local narrative. This again is an opportunity for us to utilize and reinvent their value to attain our goals. With proper integration of our demands into the core of IPOB,Igbos can reinvent the levers of power and gain anything they wish for. IPOB has taken the Igbo and minorities issue to levels Nigerian government cannot influence anymore.Nigeria as currently constituted is not workable and can never work. Either it burns and new phoenix nations rise from the ashes or a little rejig to grant autonomy to compatible tribal nations. A thousand Igbo presidencies under the current system will avail little. Again, thanks for keeping the discussion clean. #damn all typos 16 Likes 6 Shares |

horsepower101: Exactly, Local production of solar panels would be key to making them affordable to a large segment of the population. To make this market explode, a lot of people must be able to afford and install them. IBETO batteries could help us out by producing custom made batteries that can hold charge for a longer time. Battery technology is at the key of this right now. If you can have fast charging batteries that can hold enough charge and take the beating of being discharged up to 50% every day without breaking down, then we can all sing hallelujah! 3 Likes |

I have heard too many nonsense talk about how to build Dubai and Los Angeles in Southeast. Truth is that those talks are either deliberately deceitful, or folks don't know a thing about how great cities evolve. The foundation of every great city isn't necessarily building skyscrapers from day one, but adequately planning the city very well to ensure development occurs evenly and future developments can still occur without destroying the city. Roads and use of roundabouts at every road intersection is critical. Many new African and Asian cities already know this and build new areas of their cities with lots of roundabouts to compensate for lack of power to operate traffic lights as we see in American cities. The plan below should be adopted as a model for city expansion. By the way, this is Palmas which is the capital city of the state of Tocantins, Brazil. This is their city extension plan and you can see their generous use of roundabouts. This is how Southeast cities should plan new areas for expansion. 5 Likes 1 Share

Moving Ndigbo to the next level Where we were Ndigbo are a very strong people both mentally and physically. They have experienced so many inhumane things in this contraption called Nigeria. But this writing is not about our trials and tribulation but about our Development. Before the civil war, it was recorded by international organizations that Eastern Nigeria was one the fastest developing region in the world. It’s no news that the war was very devastating to our collective development. After the war, the rest of Nigerians looked at our land and saw the level of devastation. In their minds, there was no way these people can ever recover. They even added salt to the injury with 20 pounds policy, abandoned property policy, indigenization policy, and purging of the civil service. Igbos were in a hopeless situation. The wasn’t crazy for anyone to look at the situation and say to themselves that this people will never recover. But they persevered…. 1 Like |

Where we are today The devastation of the civil war affected the nature of development in Igboland. It was recorded by the colonists that Igbos had the most development union in Nigeria. Everywhere that they went they formed developmental union. In these unions, they planned community developmental projects. This was one of the secret reasons why the eastern region was the fastest developing region at that time. After the civil war, Igbos became more individualistic in development. Everyone started watching out for his and his family’s survival. OUR DEVELOPMENT BECAME MOSTLY INDIVIDUAL DRIVEN. We still have various Igbo unions today but overwhelming majority of them have become more of a social gathering. SAD!!! 1 Like |

Where we need to be We need to go back to Community/ Collective driven development. This development style will adopt the old-style development style that we used to have with modern/ 21st century practices. Some ideas of collective development include: 1) Creation of a developmental Fund 2) Creation of a venture capital fund for entrepreneurs 3) Utilizing the Private-Public Partnership Model for development 4) Repatriation of wealth back to the homeland I will on each point in the coming days. 1 Like |

Summary of Good Ideas and Keypoints from this thread 1) HOUSING: We need to start building high-rises in order to provide adequate housing in a more efficient manner. 2) INFRASTRUCTURE: We need to copy Ebonyi state model of using concrete base in road construction. This would make the road last longer as it does in developed countries. 3) EDUCATION: Creation of an organization that will promote Science and technology adoption in Igboland. This organization shall maintain a fund to carry out this task. 4) ELETRICITY: Generation of electricity independently for Igboland by partnering with successful and wealthy Igbo men. 5) INFRASTRUCTURE: Leveraging on the successful Igbos to generate funds for building critical infrastructures in igboland 3 Likes |

horsepower101: I love how you highlighted the key points. But we should always avoid using the word infrastructure which hides specific things Under infrastructure there are 3 key projects; 1. A high speed railway network to link the entire region. Funded through a combination of World bank, Chines loans and 5 SE state governments in collaboration with Governments of Cross River, Akwa Ibom and Rivers to extend the Southern axis of the tracks. Bayelsa and Delta states will be linked in second Phase of the project. 2. Small power plants specifically built in a place referenced to as industrial clusters in Abia and Anambra states to drive industrialization 3. Key Industries: Development of Nkalagu Cement and use of the high quality cement for the key projects. Development and mass production of solar panel industries and encourage people to use solar electricity as stand accessory for homes. Building of Modular refineries producing less than 10,000 barrels of refined petroleum products at Naze, Imo state and Nsugbe, Anambra state. Concession of Akanu Ibiam International airport and expansion of the airport to have two runways and operate flights into Europe, Ameriaca and Brazil. 7 Likes |

It's imperative that we youths with so much wisdom need to call a very huge conference in the east where all our leaders will be in attendance so that they can understand the need to develop the east in the image of 21st century. Our inability to take on laudable projects is really killing the economic vibe of the east. We are just joking if we keep flipping cards like now. 2 Likes |

When I move round the south east, there are hundreds of these types of shopping complexes springing up everywhere. What I think we need in the coming years are e based business platforms to cater to orders from city dwellings. Things like groceries, goods and services could be ordered online and delivered in less than an hour. We should advice our people to take advantage of e business. 4 Likes
