In a recent post on nairaland front page. The publicity secretary of APC Lagos, Joe Igbokwe listed 10 reasons why he thinks Nigerian youths are lazy. The summary of his 10 reasons are;

1. In a research carried out in Nnamdi Azikiwe University award. Many youths spends time watching porn rather than studying their books

2. He had two nephews who came to live with him as they were gearing up for their WAEC exams. They didn't read, yet they passed and they are graduates

3. The best carpenters, Tilers and POP installers are Togolese and Ghanaians

4. He knows mothers who were ready to prostitute themselves just so that their wards could gain admission to universities

5. He pleaded with some people to learn trade they didn't

6. He met some graduates and they can't discuss well with him

7. His brothers wife failed a teaching interview and was asked to go to class one and learn

8. In the south east hundreds of young men are killed for drugs related issues and many are selling their kidneys just to make quick money.

9. Today in Nnewi where he comes from, the youths prefer okada, yahoo fraud and begging

10. There are many fake universities in Nigeria and young people are enrolling there.

This man is ignorant to the core. You had TWO NEPHEWS who came to stay with you as they prepare to write their exams, you didn't see them read and they passed and are graduates today so Nigerian youths are therefore lazy? Over 60 MILLION YOUTHS based on buhari estimate! Out of 60 million, 2 people are enough as representative sample of the population? Which school graduated you abeg?

A research carried out in Akwa... About people using school WiFi to watch porn! The accusation was towards the staff rather than the students! Is it during lectures that someone would be watching porn? Try and be reasonable sir!

If u want a good carpenter you call togolese and Ghanaians. A Nigerian did the tiles in our house! If a togolese did yours, that's your business and personal preference.

You pleaded with some people to learn a trade, they preferred to beg! Maybe Laziness runs in your family sir. My dad sponsored himself through school even as a young man. Working as a farmer and a teacher just to cater for his family and his academics.

Your brothers wife failed teaching interview! Therefore every young woman will fail teaching interview? Whoever has taken your senses sir, may they return it back today in Jesus name.

You met some mothers who are willing to offer their bodies so their kids could gain admission. How many mothers? I saw a young woman who was insane and living by the roadside. Does that mean all young women are insane? You probably met one woman or two or three and she is certainly a determinant of the reality?

In the South East some are killed for hard drugs, they sell their kidney bla bla bla. In the south east there are guys hustling night and day to earn legitimate income, how about them? They don't matter isn't it. There are old people who do drugs, do we conclude then that all old folks are drug addicts?

You met some graduates who couldn't engage you in a chat! Their disciplines might just be different from yours. A chemical engineer might not reason same way as a lawyer. A botany graduate may not be able to analyse current affairs as a political scientist. All things being equal assuming they couldn't really take u up in an conversation, it could just be out of respect for your old age. Culturally, you are not meant to talk back at an elder.

It is difficult to get a young guy in nnewi to learn a trade they prefer okada riding. Is okada riding not a trade? Are u not selling a skill by riding okada or is it everyone that can ride okada? Go check up the meaning of trade in the dictionary. How many yahoo boys are in Nigeria? Are they up to 10 million? If they aren't then shut up, every nation has scammers and fraudsters. Name one nation where everyone is a Saint.

There are fake proprietors of universities and polytechnics. Then how come your master says Nigerian youths are uneducated? They must be so desperate for education for them to be so eager to go to school.


No one is perfect, the president made a mistake by that statement. Stop embarrassing yourself defending what's not. It will only make you look stupid.
