A trigger-happy officer of the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, opened fire on local government employees as they were celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Nigeria Union Of Local Government Employee, NULGE, in Agege area of Lagos state. The celebration was underway on Tuesday, April 25th, when the NDLEA officer took the staff unawares, firing into their midst. One person died and several others were injured following the shooting. The incident caused tension in the area and it took the arrival of police and security operatives at the local government secretariat to calm local government staff following the fatal shooting.
