THE NOBLE CALL “It is your loyalty to your nation That determines your royalty in your nation.” –Dr David Oyedepo Arise, O compatriot! Arise, O compatriot!! Arise, O compatriot!!! Nigerians have a call you must obey! Nigerians have a ball in your court that you must play! Because Nigerians are groaning and moaning in pains each day While their leaders are enjoying and snubbing their cry all the day! Nigerians are yearning and yelling for good successors every day, While they are being oppressed and suppressed by elected oppressors all the day! Nigerians are clamouring and calling for the restoration of their glories… While the wicked corruptors are infusing and injecting frustrations into their stories! Oh…Nigeria! Oh Nigeria!! A nation seeking for dogged builders! A nation seeking for hurricane transformers! A nation in dire need of men and women who can take the bull by the horn! Men and women who can take substantial bold steps, That will launch this nation into the realms of plenty and glory! Men and women who can rise up and take influential strides That will provoke uncommon internal and external honour for our nation! Men and women who can stand for honesty, fight for liberty, Defend our unity and war for our sovereignty even beyond mortality! These are the men and women that we seek! These are the kind of leaders we earnestly desire to pick! Men and women who will not compromise The Nigerian Dream! Therefore I call on all Nigerians today! To awake! To arise and shine! For there is no time! For the time for better life is now! Because our able men and women are being wasted in our society! The worth of our nation is being roasted in our community! The treasures of our nation are being choked out from our vicinity! The vibrant future of our nation is at the peak of bleak; Suffering in pains and chains! Wallowing in penury and bigotry! Swimming in illegality and inequality! Wailing in confusion and deception! Dying of starvation and dehydration! Engulf with frustration and stagnation! And cut-off from the realm of illumination and civilization! Indeed, there must be a way out! It’s either a boom or a doom! It’s either a make or a break! And the way out; Is for us, the citizens of Nigeria to lay hold of our right And utilize the duty conferred on us by our nation. Because All genuine patriotic Nigerians Have the sole responsibility to save and protect Nigerians From the hands of pretentious and malicious Nationals! From the hands of ruthless and merciless pen-robbers! Who parade themselves as patriotic Nigerians, Who takes pleasure in eating up their legacies While storing garbage as national delicacies! To be frank! Nigerians are tired and fed-up of fake nationals Who are only interested in their quest for power! Who sees Nigeria government as a business enterprise to amass personal wealth, Without considering the detrimental effects and plight of the masses that employed them…! This must stop! And it has to stop now! However this is why Nigerians are earnestly waiting, Eagerly panting and expectantly expecting The emergence of true uncommon leaders in our nation! Uncommon Leaders who will take us all to this New Nigeria, Where living is not suffering and struggling But Succeeding, Enjoying and Celebrating! Where everyone is as important as the President of Nigeria! Where everyone has the privilege to live healthily and wealthily! Where life is better and sweeter for everyone Even beyond our national borders! Therefore we must rise up and stand boldly To work productively and selflessly so as to make this nation The envy of other nations, While ensuring that this nation becomes the pride and glory of other nations! Because it is our civic duty and responsibility To make Nigeria healthier, wealthier and Better for us all! Long live Nigeria! Long live our Fatherland! And God bless Nigerians! [b]MR NIGERIAN! “It is the value of the citizens of a nation That makes the worth of that nation.” - BNI Good day Ladies and gentlemen Fellow Honourable Nigerians, Your Excellencies and all Patriots observed… I have come with the good news and ugly news of Nigerians I have come with the terrific news and terrible news of Nigerians And it is with great zeal that I am announcing to you that I am a Nigerian. I am a born Nigerian. I am a true rare-breed of Nigeria I am a native of Nigeria. I love Nigeria, And I am proud to be called A Nigerian! My origin is Nigerian! My blood-type is Nigerian! My accent speaks Nigerian! My colour depicts Nigerian! My pains explain the complains of Nigerians! My hope sees a Better Nigerian! And my faith professed that Nigerian! Yes…I am a blessed Nigerian! My vision, my mission, My Decisions, my actions, My passion and associations Describe the worth of Nigerians! Yes…I am a foreign Nigerian! I am an Honourable Nigerian! I am a Responsible Nigerian! I am a proven Nigerian! I am a Diplomat of Nigeria! I am a Decorated citizen of Nigeria! I am an indisputable Nigerian! I am an indispensible Nigerian! And I am an indestructible Nigerian! Yes…a Nigerian with a difference! A Nigerian with direction and passion! A Nigerian in possession with the obsession And obligation to fashion Nigeria To become an enviable indivisible nation among other nations In all ramifications and glorifications! Yes…this is Nigeria! Where hopes and dreams never gives up, Until the carrier naturally gives up! Where public service pays economic looters Than economic boosters! Where fishes in the midst of the sea, Die in thirst of water and hunger! Where schooled-dullards easily become the best Among schooled-brilliants! Where guardians encourage young Nigerians to practice mal-practice At the expense of a studious, patriotic lifestyle. Where round pegs are displaced from round holes While square peg are tribally fused in round holes! Where honesty is perceived as stupidity And hostility to other people’s prosperity! Where most people are smiling and suffering… Expecting ‘E go better One Day’! While others are harbouring and gathering treasures Without measures everyday! Yet… this is Nigeria! A land flowing with milk and honey! A land filled with the talented without money! A land filled with multitude of powerful brains… Yet without a manufactured gain! A land blessed with treasures and wealth of nations… Yet without a jewel to behold within our nation! What a mess! Yet…this is Nigeria! A land where the laws are made for the rich! A land where the laws are blade to the poor! A land where criminals and murderers are treated as honourable men! A land where the innocent are trampled upon as dishonourable men! A land where the corrupt are turned to celebrity! A land where the incorrupt are turned to non-entity! And even casualty of anarchy! Oh…what a pity…to permit hyper-insincerity In our entity! What a pity…to limit credibility And sponsor infidelity in our vicinity! Yet…this is Nigeria! Our own beloved Nation! Jokes apart; Nigerians are truly good people! Nigerians truly lovely people! Nigerians are truly diligent people! Nigerians are delightsome people! Nigerians are just too unique and precious to be toyed with! Yet…the administrations and dispensations in Nigeria, Had transformed Nigerians into professional Pen-robbers, armed robbers, cyber-criminals, Suicide bombers, ritual-killers, kidnappers, Traffickers, sex-workers, drug-pushers and corporate-beggar! Yet…we call this Nigeria? Our own land of promise? If Leaders, Parents, Guardians and Traditional rulers Refuse to check their acts in Nigeria, Time will check! And if time fails to check, Nature will check! And if nature fails to check, Patience! Patience! Patience!!! Will be the only tiny rope To hold the hopes of Nigerians! And when this fragile rope cuts-off.. When this emaciated and kwashiorkor hope gives up! A gruesome and devastating and aggressive revolution That the world had not witnessed before, Will take shape, For the liberation, restoration and glorification Of our great glorious nation From the hands of the merciless and ruthless Oppressors within and outside our dear nation! Indeed… This is Nigeria! Our pride! Our treasure!! Our own beloved Nigeria!!! Yes, our own beloved Nigeria. [Silence key] CHAPTER 5 WE ARE GOVERNMENT “Government was initially set up to make living easy and better for all” Fellow distinguished Nigerians! I had observed and reserved my opinions about our dear Nation! I have also come to celebrate and jubilate about the uniqueness of our dear Nation And then create and duplicate the Better life and Solutions needed for the growth and Development our dear Nation! However it is obvious that we see ‘Government go and Government come’ Since the day we celebrate our independence! But I see My Fellow Nigerians go in and out of Government I see my fellow Brothers and sisters piloting the affairs of our Government And deliver the capacity they had mustered over the years…. So with all these observations and investigations of various Administrations and dispensations within our dear Nation, till date, It is conspicuously obvious that; The government is not alien to us. The government is not foreign to us! The government is no stranger to us! Neither is the Government different from us. Because we are the government And the architect of any government within our dear nation! However, we are the electors. We are the councilors! We are the council chairmen! We are the congressmen! We are the senators! We are the Governors! And we are the Presidents of our dear Nation! How? Why? It is because our brothers, sisters, relatives and friends Were selected and elected into these offices right under our very nose! Our fathers, mothers, uncles and Aunts Were accepted by the masses before our very eyes Into these offices and we even enthrone and empower them by our votes! So why then do we speak concerning them as though they fell from hell? Why then do we see them as alien from a different planet? Why do we always complain and murmur as though they are at fault alone? And why do we deceive ourselves by acting as if we are not part of them? For we came from them and them from us! Let’s call a spade a spade And let’s call a spoon a spoon! For if the government officials are corrupt, It is because we are corrupt and merciless! Yes… If the government is wicked, It is because we are wicked and ruthless! If the Government is stupid, It is because we are stupid and senseless! If the government is careless, It is because we are careless and heartless For we are… The Government and the sole determinant of any government! Yes! We determine the reign of good governance Or the reign of evil stricken governance! We determine the reign of Justice Or the reign of gross prejudice and lawlessness! We determine the reign of egalitarianism, Or the reign of Tribalism and Nepotism! We determine the tenure of integrity Or the tenure of corruptism and anarchism! We determine the tenure of selfless leadership Or the tenure of dictatorship! And we certainly determine the Era of a Healthier and Better Nigeria Or the Era of a dysfunctional and paralytic Nigeria! Let’s not be like the kettle that is afraid to call the pot black! Let’s stop being sarcastic to the truth, And start being specific to the fact! That we are responsible for the corruptism and terrorism in Nigeria That we are responsible for the dilapidated state of Nigeria! That we are responsible for either the doom or the Boom of Nigeria And that we are all responsible if this country fail or succeed! So let’s start inculcating the character of love and selflessness in our families Let’s start installing the attitude of heroism and patriotism in our children! Let’s start building our homes with the marbles of honesty and purity! Let’s begin to input and create the culture of Brotherhood And nationhood within our extended families And let’s begin to educate our people of the pride of studying hard, Working hard and owning Businesses of their own While making other people wealthier and Better of! Then we will have a richer and healthier society In Nigeria. And then we will have a Better Government manned by Better Nigerians. And then our Dream Nigeria will become a reality before our very eyes! This is Because the cure to the corrupt and mal-administrative government in Nigeria Lies in the bellies of godly homes and Responsible families in Nigeria! Therefore let us build a viable and reliable Government That can obtain, maintain and sustain a Better Nigeria By grooming and raising our family members with the tools of Charity, Purity, Honesty, Royalty and Accountability! So as to Eradicate and dethrone the Thrones of the oppressors and corruptors… Who had inflicted Nigerians with poverty, death and anguish.. Who had turned Nigerians into refugees And refuse-scavenger in their Promise land! Who had raised the dust of wars, Rang the Bells of tribulations And drummed the drums of devastations that is already blasting And erupting underneath our feet like a volcano ready for eruption! It is indeed our civic responsibility To build a healthier, wealthier and Better Nigeria society for Nigerians If we truly want to see a Developed Nigeria! May God help our Fathers and Mothers! May God help our dear Nation! And God bless Nigerians! CHAPTER 6 PARADOX OF PUBLIC SERVICE “When the abominable becomes acceptable… Death is inevitable!” There are strange things going on in our society today. There are absurd scenarios taking shape in our nation every day. There are felonies being committed in our country every day. There are treacherous cultures that had subconsciously become the order of the day… Of which I perceived stimulated the Preacher to say; ‘I had seen servants ride on chariots While Princes walk on bare foot’ Indeed, this matter quizzes my thinking faculty. This issue makes me feel pathetic for our nation’s difficulty, Because these acts are very abominable yet generally acceptable in our community! Hmmmm! So I sigh in grief to ask these questions… To whom was the government set up for? To whom was the government fashioned for? Who really are the employers and employees in Nigeria Government? Where lays the authority and power of Nigeria Government? And who actually has the Right to dictate the Tunes being played in Nigeria Government? ‘Hmmm! I wondered why the horse whip is now in the hands of the servants While the Masters are frog jumping and leaping in the front of the servants!’ [Think about it] However, still in shock, I ask profusely,... What is actually happening in our society? What is really happening to the elites in our community? Are we truly sick in the head? Are we being enchanted to be living-dead? Or are we being bewitched to be unheard…? Because how can an employee earn more and live wealthier than his employer? How can a house boy eat the best of foods and dress in Royal apparels While his Master Dress in rags, cry of Hunger and Battered by poverty! How can a house-maid live in AC fitted pent-houses, enjoys the best things of life While her employer – the mistress Lives under bridges and shanties, hawk under scorching sun to survive, And most times die of starvation and dehydration! How can servants Drive in Range rover Jeeps, Mercedes Benz cars and even fly Jets, While their employers Trek from street to street, pleading for job And begging for money to feed and survive! And yet we keep mute and call that a common thing? We even say it’s just one of those normal things…? What a shame? What a sacrilege? An abomination is being committed amongst us! For the true order of life had been overridden by the false order of life among us! Abraham Lincoln, The Father of Democracy said, “Democracy is Government of the people, by the people and for the People” Then If the Government is truly for the people, Then what is happening to Nigerians What are we thinking? What are we doing? I seriously think we are not thinking straight! And I am certain that we need to reprogram our thinking faculties, As well as restructuring our mental fallacies! Because it is obviously thoughtful that our thoughts are contaminated and corrupted! And that our eyes are blinded from the truth on ground! Because how do we expound the case of a public servant That is employed into the office by the masses via election [voting] Who ended up neglecting the masses and amending the laws of the Land To favour his selfish course, Enriching himself, dwelling in executive pent houses, Moves in entourage of exotic cars, and profoundly being treated as Royalty? While the masses that ought to enjoy such privileges Are being crushed and oppressed by the same Public Officer and laws of the land, Forced to Live in abundant penuries, destitute, abused and raped of their right! As well as being slaughtered, abandoned and burnt like street rats. Yet we sit back and murmur in silence and ignorance… To say ‘E go better one day’! Beloved fellow Nigerians, The phrase ‘E go Beta one day’ Is a consolation of us living in cowardice and ignorance That is compounded with a slavish mentality! For How do we describe the scenario… Whereby a state servant that is explicitly employed by the masses, Is Being treated with utmost importance, heavily guarded, Flown abroad for treatment in the best hospitals, Schooled in world-class institutions And enjoy the best things of life with ease! While the masses who are the True Employers of these public servants Are being deprived from good health care, destitute of good education, Live in Total Black Out [TBO] communities; strive to eat once per day, Handicap of good houses and shelter, struggle and suffer to survive on daily basis, Disgustfully abused, assaulted and molested by their very chosen ones! Yet we fold our hands and condemn these mischievous acts In our bedrooms, house corner, streets and beer palours! Who will ever believe that we employed these servants into Government? Who will ever believe that they represent us at all levels of Government? Who will ever believe us when we say the Government belongs to us? Hmmm! This is terrible! If we don’t officially and legally act against theses treacherous acts, That had enslaved our fathers and mothers in the past And even this present generation To the extent of slaughtering innocent Nigerians on the altar of corruptism and Tribalism! To the extent of turning dignified citizens of Nigeria into corporate Beggars And refugees in their own promise land, We will all have ourselves to blame forever! The point is; Since we officially and legally employed them into these offices… We must as a matter of necessity Legally and socially put these political manipulators in their right senses And whoever refuses to yield shall be disarm and strip of the right of the office. There is no doubt, that politics and government is everybody’s business! It is however brutish and foolish for a man to think That politics is meant for some secluded people! It is however disgraceful and degrading For a man to shy away from politics and government matters… Because politics Is the engine room That powers and drives any nation’s economy To her boom or to her doom! Politics is the public potter’s house where the destinies of nations are fashioned and moulded! President Theodore Roosevelt of America, rightly said that ‘The people who says that they have no time to attend to politics Are simply saying that they are unfit to live in a free community! Though voting is crucial but it is the least political duty of any man. For every man must devout a reasonable share Of his time to doing his Duty In the political life of the community where he lives! And no man has a right to avoid his political duties Under whatsoever plea or pleasure of business!’ These words were emphatically spoken by Theodore Roosevelt, Because he empirical knew too well that politics is the determinant force In the health sector, business sector, media sector, Food sector, educational sector and security sector In any developed or developing nation in the world! Hence if politics is left In the hands of the few, It will be hijack by the few, Corrupted by the few, And use as a weapon of mass oppression and destruction by the few! Therefore with whatsoever profession we found ourselves doing in Nigeria, Let’s use it as a tool and transform it into a weapon of Mass Liberation That will change and make Nigeria a Healthier, Wealthier and Better place for all Nigerians! May God Bless all Nigerians Long live Nigerians! And long live Our Fatherland! Thank you! [/b]
