The concept –based -instruction is driven by the big ideas or big picture instead of the subject specific contents or the things they contain. The concept tends to refers to the procedure or an abstract ideas, by definition. And idea on the other hand refers to the mental impression of an individual, by definition.

Therefore, concept-based –instruction or learning brings us into the real world, where content knowledge and skill becomes a reality of the subject -matter. As it becomes a reality, it provoke our critical thinking or thought, essential to our ability to creatively solve any problem. The universal theme, must be introduced to engage our thought in active understanding of the concept based instruction that enable us to do the followings;-
1. To create the necessary connections prior to any experience.
2. To focus and bring about the relevance of learning.
3. To facilitate a deeper understanding of the knowledge content.
4. To act as a springboard in order to respond to learning or instruction with actions.

Therefore, concept-based –instruction, lead us to consider the very context in which we use our understanding. And context by definition, is the idea that any statement has a meaning in relationship to its setting or background. In a like manner, that the meaning of any word can be identified through the context of the sentence. The same is true, that context tends to refers to the information required to make any statement meaningful.

It must be observed that concept here, does not replace the content, on the contrary, concept tends to bring context and purpose to the content that required to be explored in the process. And such process must begin with the content skills and knowledge through a local standard or issues that inspires one, but with the curriculum as guides.
