Rexnegro:Through the ages, the African appears to have evolved no organised religious creed, and though some tribes appear to believe in a deity, the religious sense seldom rises above pantheistic animalism and seems more often to take the form of a vague dread of the supernatural. He lacks the power of organisation, and is conspicuously deficient in the management and control alike of men or business. He loves the display of power, but fails to realize its responsibility - he will work hard with a less incentive than most races. He has the courage of the fighting animal, an instinct rather than a moral virtue. In brief, the virtues and defects of his race -type are those of attractive children, whose confidence when it is won is given ungrudgingly as to an older and wiser superior and without envy. Perhaps, the two traits which have impressed me as those most characteristic of the African native are his lack of apprehension and his lack of ability to visualize the future" lord lugard 3 Likes 2 Shares |

Before nko, you should not be surprised. That's the idea; to perpetually enslave them by rendering them intellectually incapacitated in order to make it easy for their children to still rule over them even after they must have gone. These criminals we call politicians know exactly what they are doing. 7 Likes |

dafeyankee:This narrative is both myopic and shallow. And I am tired of seeing it on Nairaland. This problem is a general problem in the country. The problem is, some of you have never travelled down North, and will never do so in your entire lives. You rely on these negatives to paint the entire region as terrible. That is why an ignorant educated female will see me in Lagos and would almost instantly have a prejudiced opinion of me. Not realizing I may be far more exposed, educated and traveled than she is. Not realizing my siblings and family have traveled the world. To her myopic view, I am in need of pity. I have been to several states in this country. Our educational system is a mess. Go down East, you'll find schools like these. The same thing down West and South. But no, it is only a Northern problem. Illiterates! 15 Likes |

zicoraads: Keep your dirty mouth shut. The truth is that large percentage of northerners are backward, illiterate, dirty from head to toe, uncivilized and highly corrupt and lagging behind in terms of everything due to despicable level of corruption in the region. The earlier you realize this fact and make efforts to amend, the better for you guys. 5 Likes |

zicoraads: Mr Oga, I have paid a visit to some of the schools in the east, they don't take classes on the floor, I don't know about the south west but in the east you wouldn't find this kind of practice. The east practices some kind of public private partnership with the educational sector, sometimes communities donate blocks to build a new class room, sometimes communities along with the state and local government raise funds for chairs and tables for school students. 11 Likes |

zicoraads: My brother, why would a reasonable Nigerian go to the north? To make money? How many Nigerian billionaires made money by doing business in the north? To be educated? Are there serious schools in the north? (A corps member even complained a few days back that northerners teach English with Hausa language. That's how bad it is) Does the person want to be killed by Boko Haram, Fulani herdsmen or those northerners who enjoy killing people? This is not a tribalistic comment; I am just stating the obvious Northern Nigeria has proven to be the most dangerous place to live in Africa after South Sudan! 6 Likes 1 Share |
