The popular social network has been hit with a bug which makes users’ passwords to be saved in plain text on an internal log, instead of being encrypted. However, it’s important to note that the data is still safely stored and hasn’t been leaked nor exploited. The former wrote, “We’ve fixed, see no indication of breach or misuse, and believe it’s important for us to be open about this internal defect.” While Agrawal tweeted, “We are sharing this information to help people make an informed decision about their account security.” Twitter did not disclose the number of passwords that was discovered on the internal log. But as a precaution, it’s asking all subscribers to have a new password. It is also advisable to change those on any other service if it’s the same with the one you use on Twitter. HOW TO CHANGE YOUR TWITTER PASSWORD 1. Go to your Twitter account settings page. 2. Click on account 3. Click password and enter your current password, then type in a new one. http://www.bazetrend.com/twitter-asking-users-change-passwords-immediately/ |
