AGRICULTURAL REVOLUTION IN ABIA STATE AS STATE GOVERNMENT INTENSIFY EFFORTS TO BOOST FOOD SECURITY IN SOUTH EAST REGION AND NIGERIA.

The Acting Governor of Abia State Rt.Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu has flagged-off the distribution of Oil Palm (Tenera) seedlings and launched 2018 cropping season at the Community Primary School, Ayaba Umueze, Osisioma LGA.

The acting Governor thanked the Ministry Of Agriculture ably led by Rt. Hon Barr. Uzo Azubuike for their painstaking effort in implementating the State's Agricultural blue-print of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu's administration. He said this will continue to position Abia State as a model State for every agricultural projection of the nation.

The Honourable commissioner Rt. Hon. Uzo Azubuike in his address thanked Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for the numerous Agricultural programme of the state. Rt. Hon Uzo pointed that Agriculture is now being treated as a money-making business and not a charitable development project. He further said that with the active support of the Executive Governor, the Ministry has been able to recover and rehabilitate the abandoned oil palm, rubber, cashew and cocoa plantations. He said that Abia State Community-based Oil Palm Project has received commendations nation wide.

Indeed, one major event of this year's cropping season's launch was the official flag off of the distribution of the seedlings to Abians by the acting Governor. The 17 Local Governments received 40,000 seedlings each for distribution to the Abia farmers and communities in their Council areas.

The secretary to the State government, Dr. Eme Okoro and the Executive Assistant to the Governor Mr. John Nwagborogwo accompanied the acting Governor to the event. Other special guests that witnessed the event include the traditional prime rural of Ayaba Umueze autonomous community, Clergy men,the Executive Chairman of Osisioma Ngwa LGA Hon.
