Are you interested in learning how to become a writer? Many people who have this interest at a young age go on to become published authors and there’s no reason why you can’t as well. Never before has it been so easy to get your work out to the public. Whether you choose to start out online, to self publish your own book or to go the more traditional publishing route, technology today has made this process a whole lot easier than ever before.

A great way to begin to gain a following for your work is to start getting your writing up online. Free and easy to use online platforms has made this very easy and efficient for even the beginner. With not much work, you could have your own Wordpress blog or tutoriage up within days. If you are technologically challenged, you can hire someone to do this initial set up for you at a relatively low cost.

The benefits of blogging are huge nowadays. Search engines, such as Google, love the Wordpress blog platform and your site will be indexed very quickly. Writing a new post at your blog is really as simple as writing an email. There’s not much to it and if you get stuck there is a lot of free information and help available online. Any bookstore will also have basic books on blogging that can help you along at each step.

Another very cool thing about getting started online is the fact that it has become very easy to promote your website and yourself through a wide variety of online tools. Sites like Facebook and Twitter allow you to start to build up your own little community in a relatively short time. Using these methods, you can literally tap into the market of people that would be your ideal readers for any potential material that you will be releasing.

Once you have a good following at your blog, you can even test the waters before taking a potential book to print format. Ebooks have become more and more popular and the overhead of selling an ebook online is minimal to say the least. You can also use this format to give away a few free chapters of your work to create interest and start to build an email list of potential customers.

When you feel ready to take your book to print, it’s not necessary to get a big deal with some big traditional publishing house. If you really want huge recognition for your book, this might be the way to go if you can actually land a contract. However, this method does not necessarily equate to what would be the most beneficial for you regarding monetary gain. Assuming you have a good following and you are comfortable promoting yourself, you can stand to make a lot more money by going the self publishing route. You can actually even self publish your book at Amazon which is a great place to get started.

If you have the dream of becoming an author, know that it is very doable in today’s world of online marketing and promotional opportunities. Arm yourself with some basic knowledge about how to best approach this and start writing.
