Omo-agege Will Be Allowed To Resume – Senate by Nobody: 1:04am On May 15, 2018
The Delta Central senator, Ovie Omo-Agege, who was previously suspended for 90 days, will be allowed to resume is office in accordance with a court ruling, the Senate said late Monday.
In a statement by its spokesperson, Sabi Abdullahi, the Senate said it has been briefed by lawyers on the court judgement nullifying Mr Omo-Agege’s suspension.

Justice Nnamdi Dimgba of the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court nullified the suspension of Mr Omo-Agege last week Thursday.
Mr Dimgba said the Senate’s decision regarding the suspension, as well as the pattern adopted by the National Assembly, was constitutionally defective.
Following the judgement, an aide to Senate President Bukola Saraki, said the Senate has approached the court to appeal the ruling and institute a stay of execution.
Mr Omo-Agege in reaction on Monday said the appeal will not hinder his resumption as the stay of execution which the Senate applied for has not been granted.
In its statement late on Monday, the Senate said it would allow the senator resume in obedience to the court order.
“The Senate leadership has been briefed by our lawyers on last Thursday’s judgement of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on whether the Senate has the legal authority to suspend a member for certain misconduct or not.

“We have equally filed an appeal against the judgement of the court and a motion for stay of execution of the judgement at the Court of Appeal.
“As an institution that obeys the law and court orders, the Senate has decided that it will comply with the judgement of the Federal High Court and do nothing to stop Senator Ovie Omo-Agege from resuming in his office and at plenary from tomorrow May 15, 2018, pending the determination of the application for stay of execution.
“The Senate has been advised that since the motion for stay of execution of the Thursday (May 10, 2018) judgement shall be heard and possibly determined on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, we shall therefore respect the subsisting High Court judgement and await the appellate court’s decision on the pending motion.”
On Monday, NAN reports that security was beefed up at the National Assembly in anticipation of Mr Omo-Agege’s resumption.

It's not about any rubbish power battle

It's about obeying Court judgments and orders that Buhari can never do.

The senate should never have suspended anyone in the first place if its about obeying court orders. There is a supreme court ruling that clearly stated that the NASS does not have any power to suspend anybody, they got away with Jibrin does not mean they will always get away. Everyday people are becoming more politically aware.

I choose to ignore the other part of your comment ..because it is synaomynous with perpetually bitter losers who never got over the fact that a certain sitting president lost.

Well said my brother.

He said nonsense. Ask progress69 why Buhari has refused to release dasuki, zakzaky despite several court orders directing same. The Senate is by far a more credible institution than the executive arm of the APC government.

This year is almost half gone and this senate has not passed the budget the executive submitted since late 2017. What they are waiting for is to conclude the padding so they can hurriedly pass it so the executive won't have the option of rejecting the padded budget since the year is almost gone.

This same trend repeats itself every year. Corruption is gradually becoming a tradition in this country. See how they are fiercly chasing down their own colleague rather than doing that which they were elected to do.

I will keep saying it: this democracy is not working for us at all. We have tried democracy since 99 and we aren't better off where the military left us. No better infrastructure, no rule of law, no value system, nothing. Worse still, the future looks dim.

I guess you leased out your ears when the legislature was screaming that MDAs and other parastatals have refused to come and defend their respective budgets? Only for you to come and display your writing gymnastics in defence of futility.

I guess you are too naive to realize that 'defend' your budget .means come and grease our palms.

The senate does not have any right to tamper with the budget, neither do they have the rights to summon MDA's to defend a budget. Are they saying the executive don't know what they are doing? The senate functions when it comes to the budget is an oversight function. This senate is overreaching it's functions. They want to police everyone and everywhere.

The MDA's and ministers has already called their bluff. Maybe they need the judiciary to be reminding them of what and what they can't do.

Nigerian politicians are not disposed to obeying any unfavorable judgement or verdict.

It's simply because they don't have a choice or when the instrumentality of enforcing the judgment is with the other side.

The Senate is toothless over an Omo-Agege backed with a valid court order and the police. In fact, the police is seriously waiting for an opportunity to mess any of them that cross the line up.

Nothing beats obedience to valid court rulings. Anything to the contrary breeds anarchy which is what Buhari is facing with the Shiite movement.

The alternative to obedience to the rule of law was what we saw in the streets of Abuja yesterday.

If people truly love this nation and are not about what they can get from the system, then they will support the promotion of values that Will sustain this hard-warned democracy.

Hehehe, This Omo agege is an epitome of courage.
BTW, Saraki and Dogara should do well to pass the budget on time. Meanwhile, all the unemployed youth supporting the NASS should understand that most recruitments are being delayed due to the budget that hasn't been passed.

Let's ask them what bill is more important than the budget.
