=== Ògún is unhappy but Vulcan is happy… Vulcan is the Roman god of metalworking, blacksmith and fire of volcanoes. This Roman god is similar to our own dear Ògún (Lakaaye Ọṣinmọlẹ) but enjoys a worldwide acceptance while our own is no longer accepted in our land! In Yorubaland where Ògún once lived, people with "Ògún" prefix in their names (e.g Ògúndélé, Ògúnwálé, Ògúnṣèyí etc) are now changing their names to something like: Olúdélé, Oluwálé, Olúṣèyí, Jésùdámiláre, Jésùjùwọ́n etc! Why? On the other hand, Vulcan enjoys all the accolades, even in the hometown of Ògún! All major roads in Yorubaland have at least one "vulcaniser" - a vulcaniser is someone who vulcanises rubber to improve its strength and resiliency. In Nigeria, we use the same term for professionals who mend tyres of vehicles. These "vulcanisers" are indirectly praising Vulcan while neglecting Lakaaye! Vulcan is everywhere! We all know about volcanic eruption. Below are examples of Vulcan’s sphere of influence...
