Nigerians have been charged to remain committed as today marks the 19th year of uninterrupted democratic rule which calls for the question, 'where we are and where we ought to be'? .

Mopamuro 2019 Assembly Aspirant, Julius Olushola Abel while speaking with his media team today evaluated part of the main factors bedeviling development in Nigeria is muddling governance up with politics.

Meanwhile politics and governance are strictly interdependent as governance is the exercise of power or authority by political leaders for the well being of their country's citizens.

Abel clearly stated that politicians are in charge of governance which justifies the muddling of politics and governance.

He said that there has been several power plays between the democratically elected executives and legislative leaders in Nigeria over issues which are of critical importance to the well being of the masses which cuts across the country's economy and security.

He added that in celebrating democracy as a nation, our former and present leaders ought to look inward and ask themselves the level of their democratic contributions to the development of the country.

The aspirant appealed to the masses to bury their personal interests for better governance and leaders should ensure they wield political power against their selfish  interest and for the benefit of Nigerians.

In conclusion, he congratulated Nigerians on the auspicious Democracy Day.
