Edo, Soon To Become State With Highest Number Of Convicted Prisoners In Nigeria by dukie25: 11:13am On May 30, 2018
BENIN – The Gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2016 governorship election in Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu on Tuesday organised a well attended Solidarity Rally to commemorate 2018 “Democracy Day” with the theme “Say No To Dictatorship, Impunity and Clampdown of Opposition” held at his residence in Benin the capital city of the heartbeat of the nation.

The event had in attendance, Civil Society Groups, Religious Organisations, Market Women, Youths, Artisans, some Opposition members, PDP leaders and teeming supporters across the state.

Though, the occasion experienced drizzling of rain, it never diminished the already charged atmosphere as attendees were in their joyous mood chanting solidarity songs and dancing to the rhythm of their beats.

The solidarity rally commenced with prayers, Bishop Atoe committed the program into God’s hands while Barr. Dan. Ogbegie set the tone for the event, speakers upon speakers like the foremost human rights activist, Rev. Olu Martins, Rev Akhalumeh, Chief Tina Agbarha, President Edo PDP Councillorship Candidates, Mr. Osadiaye Eseosa Lucky and Dr. Tony Aziegbemi all spoke against the tyrannical attitude and poor performance of the present administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari compared to the last PDP regime of Former President Goodluck Jonathan, they all reiterated the fact that the battle ahead is fierce but that victory is certain if we all can come together, get our INEC Permanent Voters Card (PVC) and collectively vote our APC come 2019 as there was no basis celebrating “Democracy Day” under Buhari’s Government.

Representing Edo PDP Chairman, Chief Dan Orbih, the State Publicity Secretary of the Party Mr. Chris Osa Nehikhare said We must all go back home and make sure we all have our INEC PVCs, telling our brothers and sisters that the 2019 elections isn’t about the PDP but for the survival of our democracy in Nigeria.

Mr. Chris Osa Nehikhare, emphatically stated that under the 16 years rule of PDP, they brought democracy, unity and oneness but the APC government has brought hate speech, disaster and disunity, he didn’t end there he opined that the party APC have become more divided than any other party in the country.

He called on Nigerians to as a matter of urgency reject APC for foisting bad luck on us, he urged his countrymen to be united and finally poured encomiums on the organizer of the program, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

Speaking at the event, the convener of the Solidarity rally Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu said the main plan of the treacherous and perfidious APC government was to keep them in Prison custody till Wednesday this week but God almighty disappointed them all.

The former Secretary to Edo State Government (SSG) rendered praises to God almighty for standing solidly by him with other PDP leaders such as Chief Dan Orbih and Dr. Tony Aziegbemi “They were pretending to be God though they failed, what they did has made me more stronger. Let me tell you, this government has failed woefully and it was good they came, if they had not come we won’t know they will fail so badly both at the Federal and State levels, so therefore they mustn’t return”, he affirmed.
