Prayer works like never before!.

However, the prayer of a sinner is an abomination before God. The only prayer a sinner makes that is answered is the prayer of repentance.

John 9:31
Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.

So, if one refuses to repent and then thinks he/she can armtwist God to do his/her bidding, frustration is what he will get. Again, patience is a virtue every true believer must possess just like Father Abraham. God makes all things good in His time not ours. Be patient and receive His precious promises.

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

The question is, are you truly a child of God?. If not, then there will be difficulty accessing God's blessings. The devil will surely accuse you before God.

God still answers prayers. Don't be discouraged.

How does talking to one's self ever change anything?

Only a perfect man can make this claim. The whole bible points to doing God's will first. We fail to obey God in the littlest of matters, then claim that God doesn't answer prayers. God answers prayers when you live in agreement with Him.

By will of God, i'm referring to Righteousness, love your neigbour, etc, The things that he expects from us. I don't mean getting married or landing a particular job.

I'm saying that when you pray to God about such things that you need or desire, he will answer if you are walking in love and obeying the bible.

Every promise of success and answered prayers in the bible come with the condition of obedience. If you ain't obeying, you have no point complaining.
