Nigeria Weighs Sale Of State Electricity System by 4Play(m): 11:57pm On May 30, 2010 |
Nigerian officials have begun preparing a plan to sell the crippled state electricity system, in what would be one of Africa’s biggest privatisations if Goodluck Jonathan, the president, gives the go-ahead for sweeping reforms. http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/f6e606a0-69a4-11df-8432-00144feab49a.html |

This is the true, real, and final solution to lack of power supply in Nigeria. Remember P&T then NITEL? Now we have private telephone companies, and you never have to waste a whole day waiting and bribing somebody at the post office just to make 5-minute call. |

Jonathan has to oversee the scrapping of PHCN and privatization of the distributing/generating companies before his term in office expires next year. This is a must. As rightly put in the article, demand for electricity will exceed supply in nigeria for the next 10 years, so these investments are basically cash cows. The President will leave behind a long lasting legacy if he does this successfully in a corrupt-free manner. |

As rightly put in the article, demand for electricity will exceed supply in nigeria for the next 10 years, so these and what does that suppose as long as man multiplies there will always be a need for more power!!! so again what are u talking about |

^^^^ where the hell have you been? The political will to sail such a proposal through is the main ingredient to get this thing done. There a lot of powerful and vested interest that are going to work against the reform, but if Jonathan really wants to get it done, he can!. If he pulls this through, we will drag him into the race in 2011 even if he is reluctant. |
