The Senate erupted in heavy laughter on Wednesday after Senate President Bukola Saraki mentioned “transmission” while reading a letter President Muhammadu Buhari sent to the Chamber.

Saraki triggered the bouquet of laughter for his colleagues as he stopped abruptly after reading aloud the word ‘transmission’ and started all over again.

In the letter titled: “Transmission of the Deep Offshore and Inland Basin Production Sharing Contracts Amendment Bill 2018”, the president asked the senators to consider and pass the proposed law.

“Dear distinguished senate president, transmission of the deep off shore,” Saraki said as he burst into laughter.

“Let me start again. Dear distinguished senate president, transmission (Pause) of the deep off shore and inland basin production sharing contracts amendment bill 2018.

“I forward there with the draft of deep off shore and inland basin production sharing contracts amendment bill 2018 for the kind consideration and passage by the senate of the federal republic of Nigeria.

“While hoping that the bill will receive the usual expeditious consideration and passage by the distinguished senate, Please accept Mr. Senate President the assurances of my highest regards. Yours Sincerely Muhammadu Buhari.”

DAILY POST recalls that a video clip of Ibrahim Idris, inspector-general of police (IGP), struggling to read a speech of at an event surfaced.

“I mean, transmission, I mean effort, that the transmission cooperation to transmission, I mean transmission to have effect, ehm, apprehend, I mean, apprehensive towards the recommendation, recommended formation effective and effect, I mean, apprehensive at the transmission of…and transmission and transmission for the effective in the police command,” Idris was heard saying in the video clip which the police said was doctored.

Transmission has truly gone viral but this shouldn't blind us from the underground challenges like insecurity and insurbodination.
The IGP who popularized transmission has disobeyed the President's order to relocate to a particular location.
