Bayelsa State Governor, Honorable Seriake Dickson on Monday, asked multinational oil organizations working in the state and the Niger Delta all in all on the security of the earth, especially in the regions of unrefined petroleum contamination and gas flaring.

Governor Dickson expressed this when held separate gatherings with the administrations of the Nigerian Agip Oil Company, NAOC and Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC, in Government House, Yenagoa.

An announcement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Francis Ottah Agbo stated, the Governor censured the level of ecological debasement in the Niger Delta area, taking note of that, no genuine exertion has been made to address the issues, notwithstanding the objection of the general population throughout the years.

Governor Dickson, who depicted Bayelsa as a state with an unenviable title of contamination, focused on the requirement for viable joint effort between the government and the oil organizations to handle the danger with a view to guaranteeing peace, strength and improvement.

He particularly approached the oil majors to think of a solid arrangement of activity on remediation of contaminated regions and heighten endeavors at ceasing gas flaring in the locale.

Governor Dickson utilized the chance to congratulate Mr. Alessandro Tiani on his arrangement as the new General Manager, District, NAOC and communicated good faith that, he would utilize his abundance of experience to push the frontiers of improvement.

Describing improvement as an aggregate obligation, he additionally approached the SPDC to help the state government's Education Trust Fund, medical coverage plan and sports advancement activities.

His words: “I will like to use this opportunity to once again restate the stand of the Bayelsa State Government on the need for the protection of the environment and for your company and other oil majors to show greater environment responsibility in this area.

"Because of the steady contamination that we have endured as a people throughout the years. This state currently bears the unenviable title of natural contamination because of various components.

We, in this way approach all oil organizations to think of a solid arrangement of activity for the remediation of dirtied locales and ceasing of gas flaring."

In their different reactions, the General Manager, District, NAOC, Mr. Alessandro Tiani and the General Manager, External Relations of SPDC, Mr. Igo Weli promised their responsibility to the advancement activities of the present organization and requested the express government's mediation in checking raw petroleum robbery and pipeline vandalism.
