Children who have been exposed to smoke within the womb and as infants are greater than twice as prone to be deaf, new analysis suggests.

Three-year-olds whose moms smoked throughout their pregnancies and who have been exposed to cigarettes in the course of the first 4 months of their lives, are 2.4 times more prone to hearing disorder, a Japanese researcher discovered.
Kids who have been solely exposed to second-hand smoke as newborns are 30 per cent prone to deafness, whereas those whose moms solely smoked while expecting are 26 per cent prone to have hearing difficulties.
