With the declaration of June 12th of every year as democracy day, does this also mean that the handover of mantle of leadership to the newly elected president, governors and legislators will now hold on June 12 instead of the usual May 29.

If the above is true, won't there be a constitutional crisis as the current administration's 4 years term is supposed to elapse on May 29.
Will there be an interim government in place between May 29 to June 12 or what does the constitution say in matters like this.

Opinions of learned Nairalanders needed.

The declaration can not in any way result in Constitution crisis, Democracy Day is just a normal day that can not be equated to Transition day. The Constitution only stipulates the transition of power on may 29 which never means that it must be our democracy day. The handover of power can come on May 29 while we have the Democracy Day on June 12
This is my humble opinion, thought am not a lawyer

From your explanation May 29 continue to be the handover date while June 12 is the national public holiday to mark democracy day
