FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HONOURS JUNE 12 PRO-DEMOCRACY HEROES

Following the historic designation of June 12 as DEMOCRACY DAY and NATIONAL HOLIDAY, Muhammadu Buhari, President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, will confer Post-Humous national honours on Chief M.K.O. Abiola as Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR), Chief Gani Fawehinmi as the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON). He will also decorate Ambassador Babagana Kingibe with the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), at an investiture scheduled to take place as follows:-

DATE: Tuesday, June 12 2018
VENUE: Conference Hall, State House, Aso Rock Villa, Abuja
TIME: 10.00 am

2. Accordingly, Ambassador Babagana Kingibe , the family of the late Bashorun M.K.O. Abiola and that of Chief Gani Fawehinmi , along with the underlisted key players of June 12 struggle are cordially invited:

· Members of the National Executive Committee of the SDP including States Chairmen and Secretaries at the time of June 12, 1993

· Governors elected under SDP platform

He would be in a dilemma of conscience to show up in support of the decision which he obviously would approve of being one of many activists who mobilised against the annulment, or not show up to reinforce his opinion that the Buhari regime has not lived up to expectation and not wanting to be associated with the regime.

Please Invite Obasanjo, Babangida, and Shonekan. A very good and perfect time to wash away our sins.

Who are the other awardees apart from MKO, Gani and Kingibe? This is the first time Buhari will be conferring national honours on deserving Nigerians since he was sworn in 2015 and I guess he wants to do it in style.

His invitation is an honor. Does not stop his criticism of Buhari.

Wasn't Achebe honored with an award as well, and he turned it down? People misplace honor with partisanship. Achebe should have accepted the honor, does not conflict with conscience to be upright.

Why only elected office holders from SDP/SDP party officials?.Why not NRC and those elected on its platform?.
It's supposed to be a National Democracy day,not SDP Day or Southwest Day.
It's glaringly obvious to see that this is all about 2019 election,and not any altruistic honoring of Abiola and Nigerians that voted that day,who really are the true heroes.
