Donald Duke (born 30 September, 1961 in Calabar) was the Governor of Cross River State, Nigeria from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2007.
He received his LLB degree in 1982 from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria - Nigeria, the B.L in 1983 from the Nigerian Law School, Lagos and a L.L.M. in Business Law and Admiralty in 1984 from University of Pennsylvania.
BBC reported in September 2006 that Governor Duke was the only governor specifically mentioned as not being under investigation by the federal Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Four other governors were also reported as not under investigation but their names were not released.)

Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo (born 4 April 1962) is a Nigerian politician who is the Governor of Gombe State.

He graduated from Ahmadu Bello University in 1985 with a degree in Accounting. He obtained a Master of Science degree in Economics from the University of Lagos in 1992 and a PhD in Accounting from Igbinedion University. He began his career with Coopers & Lybrand in 1985, and worked at the Central Bank of Nigeria from 1988 to 1999.
He was then appointed Accountant General of Gombe State, holding this position until 2005.
He was appointed Accountant – General of the Federation on 20 April 2005. He held this office until he resigned to start his campaign for election as Governor of Gombe State January 2011.

In the 26 April 2011 election, Dankwambo won 596,481 votes, ahead of Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) with 91,781 votes and Senator Sa'idu Umar Kumo of the All Nigeria People's Party with 84,959 votes.

Analysis

Both of them have impressive CVs. But lets look closer.
Dankwambo schooled entirely in Nigeria up to phd. He is someone who believes in Nigeria. Duke school partly in U.S.
Dankwambo is younger.
Dankwambo has a longer number of years in public service.
Twice he survived the 'Buhari' wave. In 2011 he won against Buhari's candidate. He repeated this in 2015, showing that he has political acumen.
Duke was among those who tried to discredit GEJ very early in his presidential career, even before GEJ discredited himself.
Duke has been out of office for too long. Setting up a credible team might take him a longer time.
Dankwambo can clinch the main opposition's ticket, Duke cannot.

Nice analysis, only one thing is their main undoing... they belong to PDP, the shameless, reckless, useless thriving party! I'd rather vote for Nnamdi Kanu in his IPOB party than to vote for PDP with that useless umbrella.

I like both of them but their betrayal stories of how they worked against Jonathan have biased my mind towards them. That aside, Duke doesn't stand any chance considering the fact that PDP have zoned their presidential ticket to the north and I don't know any party that can stand APC aside PDP, that's if PDP put their tactics together. Dankambo may secure PDP ticket.

I have said it before and I'll repeat it again. I don't know why APC apologist are trying very hard to sell these individuals to PDP as presidential candidate. They know vividly Buhari will have an easy ride in 2019 if any of them is presented as presidential candidate. Dankwambo And Donald Duke do not have the political clout to challenge PMB in 2019 election.
