The Student Union Government of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, under the leadership of Comr. Igwebuike Ikenna, marked its 25 years of active Unionism.

The event which took place at the auditorium of the faculty of art, had the Vice Chancellor of UNIZIK Prof. Ahaneku and the Dean Student Affairs, Prof. Stanley Udedi present, as well as past presidents of the union, student union presidents of other institutions, captains of industries, government appointees etc.

Hon. Emeka Igwe, who was the guest speaker and a graduate from the prestigious university felt honoured as he took the listening audience on a roller coaster adventure, speaking on the topic: Youths In The Politics of Nigeria.


In summary, from his speech, Igwe indulge the Youth to get involve in decision making because they constitute the largest voting demograph.

He was later run honoured with an honorary award for his unalloyed support to the growth of the Student Union Government.

Presenting the award to the him, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ahaneku, noted that Hon. Emeka Igwe has distinguished himself from his philanthropic acts. And therefore, he is deserving of the award. He further stated that the society we live in needs men of Emeka's status. Men who will not look back but will continue to press for the betterment of the common man.

Receiving the award, Hon. Emeka Igwe, in his usual self feeled humbled by the gesture coming from the student body and the management of the school. He assert that education remains a vital tool to eradicating poverty in our society.


During the unveiling of the anniversary magazine, he made cash donation but after listening to Vice Chancellor on what the institution is trying to doing for the indigent students, Emeka Igwe was moved and promised right there to give scholarship to 10 indigent students, from their first year to final year.

But Hon. Emeka in particular asked the school management to allocate 8 of those slots to indigenes from Awka.

Like the Vice Chancellor said, Emeka Igwe has added value to the society and this he has done for the past decade.

Awka South 1 will have the best of all representative under Hon. Emeka Igwe because his love for his people which dated many years back before he even think of delcaring intention.
