*WAKE-UP CALL TO NDI ANAMBRA SOUTH*

*PART 9: _WHEN THE DESIRABLE IS AVAILABLE, WHY SETTLE FOR LESS?_*

It has always been the convention that when the desirable is not available, the available becomes desirable.

However, Anambra South is so blessed that what we desire in a senator has been made available to us by Chukwu Okike Abiama in the person of Chief Dr Anselm Enyimba.

Selah.

According to the New York Times, a good senator must be a man of eloquence, who can supply oratorical gloss to finish legislation during floor debates.

Anyone who has ever heard Enyimba speak on issues would give it up to him that he knows his turf when it comes to articulating his points and diplomatically persuading his listeners.

A good senator is one who excels at protecting his zone's interests and represents its point of view in the issues of the day.

Above all, a good senator is one who always adheres to the dictates of his conscience - a relentless investigator and a shunner of compromise.

It has been assumed that lawyers make better senators given the cliche that 'to make good laws you have to know the law'. But this assertion has been overturned by the fact that in the United States of America, the best senators they have produced so far were never lawyers. The likes of Lyndon Johnson who led the senate and Mike Mansfield are a few examples.

The New York Times research has shown that to make a great senator, you need to have gained some seniority in public office.

This defines Chief Dr Anselm Enyimba, who rose to the apex of his profession as a Banker before he retired voluntarily.

Secondly, a great senator needs to have influence. This influence is informed by certain personal qualities like the instinct or drive to get to the heart of the issues of the day, the diligence to study more extensively and know more about the bill he is debating. There is also the quality of breadth of interest that goes beyond the interest of one's zone to that of his region and nation.

In summary, John Jay, in the Federalist Paper, defined great senators as men of *talent and integrity*.

In other words, if one possesses talent but has a record of lacking in integrity, he will not make a good senator.

Also if one has integrity but lacks in talent, he is still disqualified.

Now, let's take an objective look at our aspirants and we would come to the unanimous conclusion that the only person who meets these criteria and more to give you great representation is *Chief Dr Anselm Enyimba.*

He has seniority

He has instincts to penetrate to the foundation of issues

He has a reputation of integrity

He has the oratorical skill

He has the diligence to study more (remember in his interview where he mentioned reading as his hobby?)
