Who Should Pay Value Added Tax, Vat, on My New Card, My Bank or I? by JKisOK(m): 6:42pm On Jun 14, 2018
Just now I received an alert from Skye Bank. For a new ATM card I am being charged N1,000. Another alert comes into my mail saying I have been charged VAT on the sum, "VAT ON CARD ISSUANCE FEE" N50.

Question is should this be normal? Elsewhere, in other industries, the receiver of money pays VAT? Why should bank customers be subjected to double jeopardy in this way?

Shouldn't we raise a case with CBN or whomever?

Or am I alone on this discontentment?

Is like u are alone...mayb u should first go check what kinda tax VAT is....in some cases it's called good and services tax...everyone pays it, the market woman u bought fish from seff has subconsciously calculated VAT into it payment because she has been charged else where..
Most supermarket includes it the end of ur digitally printed receipt most times using " VAT included"... But Nigerians don't read much...

U requested for a service from ur bank. U got the service.. but u don't wanna pay the VAT..... I'm not understanding you?!*??!!
