¤¤¤ STRUCTURAL AMBIGUITY It could be expressed either in terms of the mother or the daughter. Either ways gives you a correct answer. |

This is better written as 1. A woman beat up her daughter because the former was drunk. 2. A woman beat up her daughter because the latter was drunk. Standard usage of the English language does not accept such ambiguity. |
