When was the last time this body met?


The Nigerian Council of State is an organ of the Nigerian Government. Its functions include advising the executive on policy making.

Composition
The Council of State consists of the following persons:

President, who is the Chairman;
Vice-President, who is the Deputy Chairman;
All former Presidents of the Federation and all former Heads of the Government of the Federation;
All former Chief Justices of Nigeria;
President of the Senate;
Speaker of the House of Representatives;
All the Governors of the states of the Federation; and
Attorney-General of the Federation.
Duties
The council has the following responsibilities:
1. Advise the President in the exercise of his powers with respect to the:-

National population census and compilation, publication and keeping of records and other information concerning the same;
Prerogative of mercy;
Award of national honours;
The Independent National Electoral Commission (including the appointment of members of that Commission);
The National Judicial Council (including the appointment of the members, other than ex-officio members of that Council);
The National Population Commission (including the appointment of members of that Commission); and
2. Advise the President whenever requested to do so on the maintenance of public order within the Federation or any part thereof and on such other matters as the President may direct.

Buhari never attended any council of State meeting since 1999.

The reason Buhari can not schedule any Council of State Meeting is because he knows that other than Abdulsalami (and if you want to count Shonekan), none of the former Heads-Of-States will attend.

I disagree that Buhari never attended council of State meetings. I think I have seen him in a few and Google images can prove that. Even in the run off to 2015 election. Just wondering why that body has only met once in 3 years plus

He never attended even during OBJ's first term as he was already fighting OBJ for exposing him as a fraud with the PTF scandal and also because he was angered by how OBJ was dismantling Abacha empire and clamping down on his cronies.

The CPC faction of the APC happens to be populated by Abacha era cronies.

As a Dictator he cannot tolerate divergent political views of others he so disregarded in the past.

He attended i think once in GEJs regime when they were going to discuss the forthcoming 2015 elections.

Which state organ has not been destroyed within the last three years?

How many statutory bodies have been constituted?

How many times has he attended the weekly FEC meeting?

Hopefully, Nigeria has a chance next year to stop the retrogression by voting him out.

Otherwise the remaining institutions would be gone.

He attended during Sharia law debate around 2002 and in 2014 when when he felt he had a chance to be elected president.
